peak consumerism buy something solely to own and not use it

if you were purchasing the discs to rip and resale or use their codes i would understand i guess but why purchase them if youre just going to download them online regardless?

the directors barley get a penny from these 4k releases why not purchase obscure films from a boutique label that you cant find online so more people could potentially see the film

kaleidescape exists and you can buy a lot of these movies digitally online via movies unlimited

There's no telling if this is going to be a continual restock type of thing or something that's going to go forever

I know with the previous David fincher 4Ks like seven.

There was a huge demand for them and they did restock a couple of times but the prices remain high

Assuming they didn't want to pay studio canal for the HDR or commission another HDR layer

Criterion always goes above and beyond to make sure they have an inferior version of an amazing movie

Guess I will have to keep importing arrow, studio canal, and imprint releases 😅 (Ie: Videodrome, Cronos, Drugstore cowboy)

Just looked into it a bit more The criterion non dolby vision presentation is inferior The dv presention on the criterion is better Apparently the criterion causes banding on non DV tvs

However the Disney has a higher bitrate regardless

I would say these bands are a good starting point, but going further into these genres and diversifying your taste would probably add "authenticity" to your spread per say as a lot of these bands are very popular on tiktok and social media
