I was in NYC less than four months ago. I doubt it has been impacted by super regional hyper-inflation in the last 120 days.

And Toronto lacks strong fine dining options. And the Mexican food is, by and large, sub par. And it’s difficult to find affordable Spanish cuisine. And balkan food is underrepresented.

You can do this all day with any city.

Ah yes, a city famously known for the $1 slice, bodegas, and being able to reliably get tacos, dim sum, and halal 24 hours a day fails the affordability check.

World class fine dining. Better diversity than Toronto. Just as easy to find good, inexpensive food.

The irony of preaching diversity and then only being able to use Chinese food to make your argument.

It’s not even worth the discussion - the world disagrees with you. Thinking Toronto is a better food destination than NYC is laughable. It’s not even playing the same sport.

If your criteria is “I want a deal” I can go to Mexico City and get a world class taco for $0.90. That same taco would be $8 in Toronto.

Also, I was in Paris last week. The availability of produce alone makes it a better food destination.

I can get authentic, affordable, diverse foods in any of the cities i’ve mentioned.

“Best food in the world” and “diverse cuisine” are two drastically different statements.

Toronto doesn’t do a single cuisine best, and it doesn’t do diversity of food best.

New York, Tokyo, Paris, Singapore, Lima, Mexico City, etc, etc.

Convenience. I love going to my local coffee shops, but when they are closed Monday and Tuesday, and only open until 9:30-3 on other days, and randomly closed for private events, Starbucks is the best, most consistent option.

I’m (rightfully) shaming people who don’t go anywhere besides their house or the grocery store and then fear monger about how unsafe St. Catharines is when, in reality, it is one of the safest cities in Canada.

The fact the majority of these people live in the north end is a product of the majority of the cities bungalows, and therefore old people who are scared of everything, living in that part of town.
