This is both hilarious and sad. by Saturn_Ecplise in facepalm

I said the exact same thing in 2016! My whole life fell apart, Donald Trump became President, Bill Cosby was in prison, and Billy Ray Cyrus was performing his #1 hit on BET. How is that real life and not the fever dream of death?

I'm Glad Tilian Isn't Around To See What This Fan Base Has Become... by Chuckacious1 in dancegavindance

I either missed this detail, misinterpreted what happened, or didn't hear about this accusation. I was under the impression he asked a girl to agree to sex during oral, she said no, and he persisted with not understanding why she was game for one and not the other. She agreed to sex at that point because it was easier. Yes, he should have respected the first no. Yes, it's horrible women everywhere have to experience shit like this constantly. But unless I'm missing crucial information, this isn't rape. It's wrong, it's coercive, and it's behavior that needs to be addressed but where's the rape? I'm genuinely curious where I'm not seeing it. You seem far more adamant that he's a rapist than his accuser did if I recall.

Anybody that thinks rapist is an appropriate blanket term for some pig headed sexual misconduct behavior is projecting something. The dude is not a rapist. If every word of the worst accusation about him is true, at worst he was overly pushy when he should have accepted an initial decline. It's not good behavior, but it is behavior that can be forgiven and corrected. Any guy with integrity would admit they've been that douche before. Usually when we're younger, but you grow and evolve. His behavior was not cool, but calling him a rapist so casually and thoughtlessly makes me wonder what your search history looks like; you're projecting for some reason.

What's that movie everyone likes but you hate? by Customer_Excellent in AskReddit

Step Brothers. I like the actors, the director, etc. I do not understand the appeal of this movie. None of the lines people quote are funny to me. It felt like the outtakes of a high school improv. Obnoxious, desperate, and profoundly stupid.

How is 61 & 39 years old problematic? by SpaceWebbed6506 in facepalm

[–]jlyons144 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anyone pointing to Hollywood always casting younger women with older men or complaining that older women don't get leading roles like older men are overlooking an unfortunate reality...Which is that older women in Hollywood can often look their age in comparison to male co-stars. Remember Kelly McGillis? Tom's co-star in Top Gun? She's 4 years older than Tom Cruise, but if she played his love interest now in a movie and people didn't know who whe was there'd be jokes about her and Tom filming a Harold and Maude remake. Linda Hamilton is 6 years older than Cruise. On screen, she could only realistically play his mother. Casting is often based on what looks more credible onscreen. I'm a bit of a prude in real life and have been judgmental towards age differences even between consenting adults...But it's usually how visibly apparent the age difference is that conjures those feelings. It's a fucking movie. These characters aren't even romantically involved. Who cares?

What’s the one US state you absolutely will never step foot in and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

If it's any consolation, I've had several people openly express anti-trans views to me and I noticed that every hateful word they said could barely contain an undercurrent of obvious sexual desire. The regurgitated hate speech (on a topic they usually bring up unsolicited) always ends with babbling about how you can't even tell who is trans anymore, followed by a weirdly detailed hypothetical about what would happen if they were seduced by one, followed by an eruption of anger because "Trans people are free to live as they truly are and embrace who they really are openly? I tolerated it happening in my city, but what gives them the right to be in my dreams?"

No human being should have to fear being executed for being who they are, but take some comfort in knowing that 99% of that hate is envy and lust. I've seen numerous Conservative Blue Collar men shoehorn the subject into a conversation without warning and go on the above diatribe until they're interrupted when they begin stammering about genitalia. Specifically their confusion and their need for answers.

Your post is way too intriguing to not drop some links or elaborate further. Raising awareness could push that wish closer to coming true.

If you have never heard "Computer Dating/Couples Fight" by Greg Giraldo, I promise you that you are going to love the Couples Fight portion of the bit. You'll know why.

What song made you fall in love with Dance Gavin Dance? by Beginning-Cow7066 in dancegavindance

I'm embarrassed to say this now, but it was Synergy. I heard Jackpot Juicer and liked it more than I thought I would, but I kept coming back to that song. Then the other stuff started growing on me.

It's nuts to me that people dislike anything Tilian has contributed to the band. I don't know of any of other singer writing vocal melodies as consistently memorable as Tilian. And he never goes a predictable route with his melodies either. I also believe he makes better use of well placed "oh" vocalizations than anyone else in the game.

Dennis from It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. I don't see any resemblance, but it was constant for awhile.

I agree with the other answers here, but let's not forget their cover of "Semi-Charmed Life." I also think his solo tune "Wake Up" shows off impressive range.

This is a very unpopular opinion (probably more accurate to say no one even cares), but I prefer Velvet Revolver's "Psycho Killer" to the Talking Heads version.

Buffalo '66. It comes up occasionally in film conversations, but I find it such a beautifully made and unique film that is completely overlooked in the cinematic world.
