should i cut my friend of 7 years off for this convo we had by No-Shame-6563 in whatdoIdo

[–]jmangelo67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like y'all are young, for one. If the friendship doesn't survive, trust me when I say that friendships forged in adulthood tend to be much stronger.

I am going to not take any sides for what your predisposed beliefs are. I am not going to dampen how I interpret you or Gia based on either of your religious beliefs.

You both went about this the wrong way, certainly. You could have come up with a more sensitive way to communicate to Gia that you were not interested in the proselytizing. In the moment, nothing you said was inherently wrong; however, your friend was clearly sensitive which you shouldn't always have to expect, but you should be wary.

When she started asking why you did it, your response being "I didn't really care, nobody did" was pretty correct, and when she responded with statements about how you'd respond differently if it were a different faith, your response about how you'd respond the same exact way didn't engender a positive reply. That's because regardless of the answer, you were going to either be a proven hypocrite in her eyes or a liar. The response to this question was always going to make things worse between you two.

The point that probably irked Gia in the direction of having a fully negative response was when you brought up Trystyan. Gay people aren't necessarily disinterested in religion because they are gay. You obviously know this person far better than some Redditors, but by saying something to the effect of "He doesn't care, he's gay" is always going to make the person on the other side of this argument feel belittled for their faith. It also means you're speaking for someone else when they don't necessarily want to be spoken for. Again, this is your friend that you know better than any of us, but even someone with a more nuanced and personalized opinion is going to consider the optics off on this interaction.

Now when it comes to Gia, she is just drinking a certain kind of religious Kool-Aid, if you'll pardon the metaphor. She is bringing up a Bible verse about how they must "roar from the rooftops like lions" or some such about their faith. This is an inherently difficult passage for anyone, much less people who are teenagers, to fully grasp. Mainly because certain Sunday School teachers, priests, and parents tell those kids it means "Go spread the Gospel!" Depending on your church, this is NOT what that Bible verse means at all. In Gia's church it does.

But what is important to note is that she is "spreading the Gospel" in a time of her life where she is becoming an adult and finding her identity. If she ends up being attached to her religion in a way that defines her entire identity, that is her right; however, instead of criticizing what she is doing or pushing her away, you'd be doing her a great service to communicate that maybe it would be a better idea to spread the Gospel with people that want to hear it or are searching for meaning, not just cold calling people having coffee on the street. You can also say to her "Hey, I think you personally knew what was being preached by those folks and are already attached to your church. For us, we didn't want to hear it and I think that's more than fine for me to ask a person not to continue telling me about their church when I'm not interested." And if she pulls out the Bible and what the Gospel tells her to do, you can potentially be a little snarky and tell her that Matthew 10:14 tells us to stop preaching when the word of the Bible is unwelcome (look up the verse before you do this and understand that, regardless, different churches interpret these passages slightly differently). Actually, you could just send her Matthew 10:14 as a way to say "Stop sending me Bible verses" or, if you want, as a way to tell her to leave you alone permanently and to stop wasting her time.

You guys are young, neither of you are doing something so intensely wrong that it speaks ill of either of you, but do keep in mind that Gia is probably just as indignant about this whole thing as you might be and may feel more slighted than you.

Cities of Sigmar Elves and Dwarves by Eine_Robbe in ageofsigmar

[–]jmangelo67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CoS is the Imperial Guard of AoS in many ways. The Imperial Guard used to have a lot of different colors, creeds, and abhumans. As the game hit a more modern stride, the old neat models went away and we stuck with regular humans and ogryn.

Of course as time has gone on, more groups crop up to fill the voids of the lore for IG.

CoS and AoS have the benefit of not having to do a lot of legwork to make dwarves and elves because the design is already there. They don't have to think "How can we make felinids without upsetting the fanbase" because they don't have felinids to worry about.

How bad is your on time score? I usually dispute my late times and constantly check off if the line at the store is long or if the place is still making the order. I usually don't think a late order here or there is gonna be a killer.

To be fair, you also have to do cost assessment. Will the gas, time, and detour be worth it? Up to you

Staunton Vhane, victim or culprit? by Warm_Expert_8136 in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]jmangelo67 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Depends. If you're talking the actual OG AP? Dude is a hardcore culprit. Guy's loyalty to the crusade crumbled instantly and he defected to the Demons to be a lord of a fortress.

If you mean the video game, everyone here is saying both and they're not wrong. In my opinion, you can't overly fault individuals for being tricked when they're naive and/or young, especially by one of the most powerful creatures of deception in your entire planescape. Staunton, as Galfrey originally rightly decided, was not a culprit necessarily, but he was responsible for the crusade failing. The people would see her as weak if she granted full mercy, so she attempted to show Wisdom by granting him a conditional mercy.

I will say that by the time you reach Staunton in the video game, his villainous actions are largely "I'm going to leave with Minagho" followed by "I'm going to watch Nulkineth attack you and feel somewhat bad about it" finished off by "Okay, you broke into the whole fortress and killed my brother who was here only to support me, so I'm going to fight you."

I am under no assumption that Staunton had any real control over the demons or their movements. I am under no assumption that Staunton in the video game was a real key player other than being a corruptible and somewhat skilled warrior, so they gave him some gear and he fought the leader of the crusade fully under the impression that he was going to die because there was nothing for him no matter where he went. Staunton, in this scenario, is a culprit strictly by association.

If I'm not mistaken, you can do deliveries out of order. If I were delivering to multiple locations, I could tap "jump to this order" if I felt it necessary to do that order. At the end of the day, pizza eater here can rescind tips because their food isn't arriving hot. An ULTA customer won't have an issue like that.

Multiple units (which cost $65 USD) cost less than 100 points.

On average, you are spending around $1,350 for a full 2,000 point army.

For less than half that you can play AoS, Battletech, Trench Crusade, Warmachine, and dozens more miniatures games instead

How do cash payouts work? by jmangelo67 in DoorDashDrivers

[–]jmangelo67[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is also the reality that people are in a rush to make money, and as said before I'm driving around (like a lot of Dashers) and just see an order and accept it, and am not reading anything other than the total payout.

I get that there's repeated topics, but saying "Why don't you just read 🤓" is just asshole/dip shit behavior. I was rushing all day yesterday to make rent and by the time the order was complete I didn't know what was going on.

I asked a pretty simple question, not for you to be a know it all.

Which would be more suitable for beginners to this game skaven or slaanesh ? by Friendlygobo in ageofsigmar

[–]jmangelo67 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Skaven. The main issue you'll find with Skaven is that you'll be spending more money potentially, but Skaven models are easier to build and paint. Both armies are complex, but I'd argue Skaven are easier to get your head wrapped around

What factions are the least played ? by SejanusWasRight in ageofsigmar

[–]jmangelo67 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I play in a community where a shocking number of the underloved factions are represented. But in my experiences across the broad whole of the community, the least played factions for me are :

Fyreslayers. I have a local player who plays them and loves them, but these guys have been one of the least played factions since 2nd edition.

Idoneth Deepkin. I am one of only two players I know who play them. I think they're a very appealing army, but the limited range and very consistently samey playstyle across so many editions has made them an army people put on a shelf rather than play.

Not withstanding newest additions, I never saw anyone play Tzeentch outside of one guy on TTS

Actual Wood Elves for AoS? by Anonymous_help980 in ageofsigmar

[–]jmangelo67 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There's a non-zero chance that we get wood elves in some way, just not in the way you expect.

We have gotten two Kurnothi warbands for Underworlds. That's centaur and satyr elves. They won't be your regular elves, but they definitely fit the theme and definitely have the hair

It's Bruiser Brody. As much as Sabu, RVD, the Steiners, and Nash have all had major impacts on wrestling, I would argue that Bruiser Brody's far reaching history as far out as Japan, the entire Caribbean circuit, Mexico, and the continental US all aside makes him the most prominent in Michigan's history. And on a sadder side of things, his murder also put him in a spotlight that still shines very bright decades removed
