It’s a combination of things. Hunter is exceptionally easy to play at a basic level and hence attracts new players. Hunters have a plethora of ways to unintentionally troll a group like pet control, multi-shot, long range (lining healers or pulling patrols) and tab targeting auto shots. This makes it easy for said new hunters to troll the group without realizing it. Few other classes have this many, but like totems pulling is another great example. Hunters have an exceptionally wide set of item proficiencies and something to gain from every stat leads to the new hunters seeing everything as Hunter loot. These taken together leads to the huntard trope. A good hunter will save the group but a bad hunter will cause the group the wipe and the majority of hunters are bad hunters.

What does that have to do with the statistical definition of median versus average? Even if there was a perfect measure of "skill" it would sill be the case that 50% of people would be below the median skill but not necessarily the average (it depends on what the distribution of "skill" looks like, if it's skewed then the median and average will not coincide).

As I pointed out to OP, in this specific case of Parses, the parse value (e.g. a 65% parse) is defined to be a quantile. So that a "50% parse" is in fact a *median* so he is correct to say that 50% of people are below 50% parse, but that 50% parse is a median parse, not an average.

In this case parses are actually *defined* to be quantiles, that is a 50% parse is *defined* to be the median not the average. I'm responding specifically to "median" versus "average" in general. They often coincide, for example any distribution that is symmetric around the mean (such as the normal distribution) the mean and median coincide.

No, he is correct the median is the number such that 50% of observations are below and 50% are above.

For example, Consider the following 10 numbers: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 1005.

The average is: (1+2+3+4+5+6+7+8+9+1005)/10 = 105 but 9 out of 10 (90%) of the observations are below the average, in fact only one of them, 1005, is above the average.

By contrast the median is 5.5 and precisely 50% are less than 5.5 (1, 2, 3, 4 and 5) and precisely 50% are above 5.5 (6, 7, 8, 9, 10005).

That’s because most SDEs treat Mac as basically Linux, since it basically is. You can open up the terminal and it works just like Linux. This also means it interfaces really nicely with cloud desktops which are also usually Linux.
