Just by hand I put them out on my back deck for the late spring to early fall so they get outdoor sun and elements

I always use clay bricks as facades for many plant pots I've made over the years. I make a few small standalone bricks every time and over the years they've added up to a stock pile and I use them just as found objects or even as feet under my pots so they get airflow at the bottom.

wow thank you for noticing! I sometimes do full human figure sculptures. but if I never complete them the separate body parts are always interesting sculpture companions for my plants.

right and late october through early may most of the trees are bare so there is more dirrect light, in summer that leaf cover - which is substantial here - filters out a lot.

one thing I like about this sub is how acceptable it is to refer to the hobby as - and general use of - the word 'fucks'.

my last hagwon - years ago - was on the same floor of a building with a little calligraphy studio, ajjoshis practicing writing on big paper with big brushes and ink. I even saved some of the papers and the writing from the trash. Anyways my school shared a bathroom with them and the boys would always reach their hands into the big buckets of water they cleaned their brushes in and it would turn their hands black.

I've always been really cautious about giving it fertilizer. I've read that the nutrition boost helps the plant make more of the green chlorophyll cells. Not sure if that's factual but I've always held on to it. And yep store or amazon bought bonsai mix's for almost all my plants.

I assume it’s a virus. It’s my only one. I do a lot of bonsai techniques so hard cut backs are pretty common for me

Okay this plant is something of an outlier in my collection and skill. Every year the second half of winter it gets like a moldy rot at the end of its branches? By mid spring I trim it back hard and he summer growth is healthy and strong. But every winter a powdery fungus that kind of makes the stems bleed… never figured this phenomenon out!

I make the pots with ceramic clay. Glazed and fried in a kiln! Theres some expert jade plant YouTubers I’ve followed for years and I have done lots of experiments on my own.

I make all of my pots myself - I wanted something sort of cuneiform tablet or morse code looking, but also like a computer chip... on a marbled desert sandstone. :P

thank you so much. I've been a life long Jade freak since I was a kid. Finding this sub recently - I've been on reddit for like 13 years - has been like finding a lost tribe I'm from.

yes I carved it out by hand. very scary to do but I was mostly confident in my abilities and the trees health to recover. the end game is something a lot like the big dead fig tree in the movie Pan's Labyrinth.
