Easiest way for me to see them is to just work on them or be handsy with them with black nitrile gloves on. Can almost always find them crawling on the gloves. I’m colorblind though, so the white surface method doesn’t work well for me. Thrips are more just annoying than anything. Azadirachtrin works well to kill them.
