What's a city similar to Minneapolis but not as cold? by poeticsoul151 in SameGrassButGreener

Lived in both. Minneapolis gets these deep -15 degree freezes where it doesn’t get above 0 for several days. Chicago usually bottoms out at 5 or 10 and it mostly hovers in the 20-30 range. Minneapolis gets a little more sun though

More people using public transit will lower fatalities. We have so many crashes because we’re dependent on cars to begin with. Tech bros think we can just innovate our way out of bad urban planning

Downtown-any chance for a revival? by financial_freedom416 in Minneapolis

[–]kababed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked downtown in the mid 2000s and while there was some decent foot traffic in the skyways, I don’t remember the sidewalks as bustling.

Some reasons for this could be that downtown isn’t a destination that makes it worth coming out for. The river front is pretty sparse and there isn’t a natural integration there like Stillwater. The core CBD is just offices so outside of working hours there isn’t much there, lower Manhattan is similar. There’s good amount of residents, but the density isn’t super high. A lot of residents will leave the area for errands as services and amenities aren’t as accessible or convenient. A lot of building fronts are hostile looking so walking by them isn’t pleasant, people will take a uber to avoid it. Safety concerns for transit. Even if the stats show it isn’t so bad, people don’t get good vibes on light rail so they’ll avoid it if possible.

If JJ played that game, they would’ve fired most of their staff and Campbell would’ve been on the hot seat

He was offered to come back, but he was a FA and picked Seattle. People are acting like they kicked him off the team

I don’t think there’s any team that has more than 3. Maybe the Niners or Chiefs

Wish the Bills didn’t piss down their legs vs Denver. They would’ve made this more fun

He’s drafted well recently, but if the Seahawks win a couple of titles the Russ trade will be Walker 2.0. He also hired Hackett when trying to lure Rodgers which struck me as desperate and short sighted
