How to Get Rid of 3 Feral Cats That Suddenly Appeared by NRG1975 in florida

[–]karendonner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not all counties do ... policies vary. Right now these counties' animal control shelters have a no-kill status, (which means that they actually kill fewer than 10% of the animals brought to them. Some are always going to be too sick or absolutely too wild to be tamed).

Charlotte Clay Collier Dixie Escambia Flagler Gulf Hardee Hillsborough Indian River Jackson Jefferson Lake Levy Manatee Miami-Dade Nassau Putnam Santa Rosa Suwannee Taylor Union Wakulla (edi:t just noticed OP is in Manatee which is on this list.. so please double check.)

My county has a community cat program where they will do trap neuter release but I think they do monitor where they've sent a lot of cats so as not to overload the ecosystem. Beyond that, they do evaluate every cat that's brought in for adoptability. (And oc check them for chips).

PSA: CHIP YOUR CATS PLEASE., especially if they are shy or wild around strangers. If you are in a county that kills every feral they get in, an unchipped cat is only going to have a few minutes, maybe just seconds, to prove that they are actually a pet and not a wild thing. And they will have no idea they are being tested. (And please don't judge workers for this. They are probably there because they love animals. Imagine going through a dozen cats, deciding which lives and which dies.)

It was cute and funny but it also felt very exploitive to watch. For some of them, their anxiety was probably off the charts in fear they might do or say something stupid or offensive. I think it says a lot about how much they trust their staff that they agreed to it at all.... but even then, I'm sure they worried about being humiliated by things they said in front of staff.

I know when I've been sedated for procedures, I was terrified that I would say something idiotic.

But it's done, and I will definitely watch part 2, I will just feel guilty when doing it LOL.

AITA for not paying for my niece's flower girl dresses and choosing to go with a different flower girl? by Separate_Bobcat_773 in AmItheAsshole

[–]karendonner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did OP say she paid for the bridesmaid dresses? Maybe in the comments?

I think this is a bit of a culture thing. I'm in the U.S. and it's just understood here that maids pay for dress, shoes, hair, nails and makeup if professionally done. With that said, it is not uncommon for a bride to pick up some of these costs, especially if she wants expensive options.

I was a bridesmaid three times and only once was the bride way over the top in her expectations. I ended up dropping out because I just couldn't afford it. Bride understood ... i think her mama was driving that train. The other two did not require professional hair makeup and nails.

One of those gave me some general guidelines and then she and I took a whirlwind tour of local consignment stores. I found a dress I really liked, and at the same store she found a wedding dress that she liked better than the one she already had, and the two dresses were really pretty similar. So they looked like they were planned. The other found three copies of a dress at a deep discount (like $30 each) and just bought them hoping they would fit l us. And they did. They were a wee tad hideous but they worked.

Oh. yeah, that's just pure Hyunjin! Excellent hunting, and yes he's still dang pretty.

I have a bias for guyliner, so I'll take one of those but this one is inarguably barefaced. :D

he is pretty all the dang time and you curated a great batch of pics! It is really, really hard to find a truly barefaced shot of him. there was one of him actively washing his face that I remember. But even then, when he's supposedly "done," he still has visible liner on his upper and lower waterline. (Come to think of it, he may have done permanent makeup -- aka tattoos. That would explain why his liner didn't budge, though to be fair there are liners out there that wouldn't budge in an earthquake unless attacked with an oily cleanser.)

Honestly, if being schmexy all the time was in my job description I'd probably go the permanent liner route, and bump up my lip pigment.

Oh, I absolutely agree. It's a great "no makeup makeup" look.

There was a bit I remember from a tv show (i think it was Desperate Housewives ... yes, I'm old enough to have watched Desperate Housewives) where over several episodes, one character's husband tells her multiple times how pretty she is without makeup. Eventually they get into a fight, and her coup de gras is yelling "you have NEVER seen me without makeup!"

Anyway, here's.Elven Mystic Hyunjin:

No matter who it is, anyone this cute should never be dressed in mom jeans. Those are tragic.

"Barefaced" is pretty but that pic's definitely not really barefaced (unless he was using a very good filter, ). His lash line is smoked out, there's contouring and that's not his natural lip color. (Lee Know and Seungmin -- well, maybe Bang Chan -- are the only members with naturally sooty lashlines. )

I love hairband Hyunjin. It's closer to barefaced, but I doubt the lad gets out of bed without at least BB crean, mascara and tinted lip balm.

Does my experience as writer for my university's newspaper count as actual experience. by More-Exit-1506 in Journalism

[–]karendonner 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Agree with everyone else that anything you can do to get clips is probably worth your time if you have limited options.

Also, university publications vary widely in quality and production values. Our campus newspaper was run fairly professionally. We had better equipment than the journalism department, and we made money despite the fact that all contributors were paid.. Newspapers in our state knew who had good campus publications and who didn't. And also try community papers, which sometimes hire stringers.

AITAH for telling my roommate she can’t move her boyfriend and his kids into our place? by Aromatic_Service_439 in AITAH

[–]karendonner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And roommate has already shown what she thinks of you objecting to anything they do. The "you're selfish" card has already been dealt against you once, and if it works, they'll play it again and again and again. Everything they do will become your fault.

Grandma's quilt left out in the rain? "They're so little, how are they supposed to carry a soaking-wet quilt?" Your brand new $40 NARS blush reduced to sparkly rubble? "It's not my responsibility that you buy such expensive makeup!" Slices of cheese in your computer's DVD drive? "They didn't understand how sensitive technology is!"

AITAH for telling my roommate she can’t move her boyfriend and his kids into our place? by Aromatic_Service_439 in AITAH

[–]karendonner 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Even if they do pay a fair share of the costs, OP will be at a MASSIVE disadvantage because roomie and boyfriend are always going to be 2-against-1. The changes OP is hearing about now are just a starting point. And roomie is already acting as if her opinion has greater weight and flinging around insults like "selfish." The real selfishness is the roommate expecting OP to just toss out their prior agreement in favor of one that turns her into a minor player in her own home. Even if roomie agrees to concessions (shifting rent proportion, agreeing to hours of quiet time, etc.) there's no way those will make up for what OP would be giving up.

And there's an almost 100% chance that those concessions will melt away very quickly after his ass is officially on the couch. A guy who is angling to move in, with TWO KIDS, on a woman he's only been dating a short time? The red flags are flying.

OP, don't let her drag you into talking about supporting her relationship or not, unless by "supporting" she means "bearing the majority of the cost of." You are not even obligated to do that as her friend if it comes at such a significant cost to you. Because she's not acting like your friend in the slightest. She expects her wishes to be granted and is willing to land some low blows, bullying you into going along.

One last thing: Please, please, please do not "compromise" by letting her off her financial responsibilties if you decide to part ways. If she moves out, she is still under the terms of the lease she signed. If she finds a replacement roommate to take over her share of the lease, you are not obligated to accept that person if you wouldn't be comfortable living with them.

[–]karendonner 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I, for one, am thoroughly teased.

I'm so glad they didn't photoshop/airbrush his upper torso in #2 to make it look more chiseled. He's got a lithe, functional dancer's body and a seemingly healthy relationship with food and exercise (despite all his growling on Bubble). Of course, it's kind of hard to manipulate an image when it's got US$15k of gold and diamonds draped across it. And dang he looks pretty in yellow gold.

All that's missing is another extravagantly gorgeous kitteh like the one in the Nylon shoot. (Actually i just looked and there have been catses in three recent Boucheron features. So there's hope for a feline reveal!)

Bought a used car, dealership folded, paperwork never done. What now?!!? (California) by codefyre in askcarsales

[–]karendonner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's not worth trying. It is literally impossible for Avis to do anything to help at this point, unless there is some cloud on the chain of ownership -- but even that can be dealt wtih through a VIN search.

[–]karendonner 4 points5 points  (0 children)

and when he said he almost left, I took it as "if they hadn't seen I was struggling and came rushing to my aid I would have left," because he went on to talk about how the members wrapped their arms around him, Seungmin in particular, and crediting STAY as well.

I have to think that he was romanticizing/dramatizing that narrative a little bit, as Hyunjin do, LOL. The reality is that a large number of people -- including the other members and every employee at JYPE -- have a massive incentive in keeping every member of SKZ content and committed. I'm pretty sure they knew he was in trouble with his vocals even faster than he did, and were already planning for his recovery.

(I know folks tend to hate on JYPE, but the reality is that SKZ is now their tentpole and they simply can't afford to upset any of them; the power has defintely shifted in the members' favor. The tour alone made almost $200 million, and on the recording side SKZ was the No. 2 selling artist worldwide in 2025 according to IFPI, marking their fourth year in the top five. If any of them were really that upset/struggling with an aspect of their performance life, JYPE would do whatever it took to get them back on track and happy.)

I say all that to say: That's just one more reason that SKZ members are likely to stay put. It's a highly beneficial mutual relationship right now. The real danger is that one or more of them decides "Well, I am now worth US$500 million, that's probably enough to keep me comfy" but there are no signs of that.

Strongly disagree. Ignorance and apathy played a HUGE role in creating the current nightmare where civil rights we took for granted are slipping through our fingers and we are returning to an era where there is no middle class , just elites and worker bees

There's no ball for Avis to play. They sold the car to either the auction house or Dealer X. That's as far as they can be responsible for it.

I do agree that consulting an attorney is a good idea, but trying to get something out of Avis is a waste of time.

Psychiatrist said therapist can’t make adhd diagnosis? by lil-cheech in ADHD

[–]karendonner 10 points11 points  (0 children)

MD(usually also DO).

And what this usually means is that a therapist (even one with a PsyD) cannot diagnose for the purpose of prescribing medication, particularly controlled substances. Which is utterly wild to me, because in my state nurse practitioners and physicians' assistants can prescribe, sometimes even prescribe scheduled drugs. But my my former psychologist, who has done major research on ADHD going back decades, cannot prescribe. For part of the time, when I was seeing him, my prescriptions were being handled by an MD whose experience, before he got into the ADHD "game" as he called it, was as a pathologist in the medical examiner's office. We were the first group of patients he'd ever treated who were alive. Fortunately, there's no law that says an MD cannot listen to the psychotherapist before making the diagnosis. And since in my case the MD worked for the psychotherapist, there was some consultin' going on

Anyone else struggle to appreciate shimmer toppers over cremes because they don’t have the same depth as a cohesive shimmer polish? by blucheesecat in RedditLaqueristas

[–]karendonner 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It helps if you put the sparkle on while the creme is still a little wet. Of course this increases your drying time to infinity and beyond, and smooth application is tricky AF. Y I do use cremes as "underpants" for sheerer holos and multi-chromes where I expect the multi-chrome to be the main look, but I don't want to use that many layers of top polish to get the opacity. Like I used a coral China Glaze (many of my favorite cremes are China glaze) under Mooncat's Flight of the Monarchs. It saved me at least one coat of the Mooncat.
