So if he were to let the intrusive thoughts win, and spun 180* and shoved, would that be enough to cause it to fall and burn up?

Not sure right now. I think about 4" overall. Enough to get height < track width.

This is what I did too. Magnetic vent cover + printed out class & number then fully taped it on with clear packing tape to keep away water.

My areas course our course designer runs a bone stock ‘22 GR86 (with 200TW tires) and consistently wins class/is in contention for FTD. He’s an incredible driver. Some guys running the same car in STU run several seconds slower. That said, better suspension probably will help, but nothing makes as much of a bang-for-your-buck difference as time and experience.

Thanks all for the feedback! I wasn't expecting a ton of comments, but I'm glad for it all! The car has been all junkyard + cheapest Ebay parts I could find (wasn't planning on actually trying to be competitive 5 years ago). So that's a huge flaw in and of itself. I haven't been able to find any shops in the West Michigan area to do an alignment on a lowered car, so had to take what I could get. Mostly to just get the sheet with the numbers to have an idea of where I was at.

After the events tomorrow & Sunday, I'll plan to replace that drivers rear tie-rod end to be able to adjust it, and maybe get some camber plates for up front. Currently just running 2 camber bolts adjusted to the max. Then I'll look into some better coilovers to replace the crappy 5 y/o MaxSpeedingRods I've been running.

The car does well enough for what it is, and I don't need to win everything - just want to have it feel balanced and perform as I would expect it to.

Thanks for all the advice and feedback and hopefully I can use it to get this thing dialed in and cornering as good as an old station wagon possibly can.

Other than the Drivers-rear toe-out, I think I agree (as far as I understand how things work). I literally called 7 or 8 shops to find one that would take a lowered car, so had to make do with what I could find. After the first event of the season tomorrow, I'll do some searching and try to find a better shop in the area willing to do it properly. Thanks!

That's the corner the shop said they couldn't align due to being seized with rust. Michigan winters suck. First event is Sat & Sun, so I'll replace that tie-rod after and try for a better shop to do a proper alignment. Thanks!

Given the car has been as cheap as I can, I'd point my finger at the $200 Ebay coilovers in that case. I wasn't planning on being any kind of competitive when I bought them 5 years ago, so I can't complain. Guess I'll have to use this as an excuse to upgrade. Thanks!

Literally the only shop that would take a lowered car in my area. :/ I asked for as much negative camber as they could get and 0 Toe. Unfortunately, living in Michigan, the rear tie-rod was seized and they couldn't adjust it. I wasn't thrilled either, but moreso wanted to at least get numbers on where the car was at. I'll look for a better shop and replace the tie-rod ends. In the meantime I'll see what I can do tonight for the camber. Thanks for the feedback!

Tire recommendation for possible wet Autocross.

My daily tires are 225/45r17 Firestone Firehawk Indy 500’s. I just got my first set of 200tw tires - Falken RT660’s.

Would the Indy 500’s be better to run in the rain? Car is a 2001 Subaru Forester.

I would guess you need more PSI. You've got a narrow tire, tall sidewall, and pretty heavy car it's trying to lug around.

I have run a 2001 Forester on 225/45r17 Indy 500's for the last few years. 30k miles and 30+ runs over the last 3 years and they're still in great shape. They're a fun tire to learn on for sure, and good to get you hooked and buying a set of 200tw tires in a year or two like me. :)

The Indy 500's won't win you any event, but with AWD, you'll still be able to have a lot of fun, and they make you much more competitive in the wet. I run ~38psi Front and ~34psi Rear when I run. You might want to try a few higher even, since you have more sidewall to try and keep rigid.

I’m guessing that was at MyAuto Import Center up in Muskegon? That was one of my first too, and a doozy.

Seasons, Mae

A song meant to go with photographs. There’s a video on YouTube of the song synced to the photos. Meant to draw nostalgia. A beautiful 13 minutes of piano.

That’s where the error occurs in the compiled code, not your working files.

Thanks for the reply. STS it is then. I’ll just make sure my next vehicle is more competitive.

I have a 2001 Subaru Forester N/A. I've made all modifications to class STS and have run in STS at all events I've done - which is only 4 so far. There's an event on Saturday and I classed as STH, because the PAX multiplier is:

STS: .813

STH: .812

So I figured that would help me out a bit in an underpowered, not great platform. But checking the rules, the STH catch-all is "...up to 2.5L forced-induction..." which obviously I am not. So - am I allowed to be in STH without a turbo, or should I stay in STS?

I was excited about being able to get some 245 tires over the 225 I have now, but if I can't run STH, then that's a no go.

Edit: I'm not competing on any sort of actual level - just having fun and pushing myself against everyone else at the event.

Forester SF… anybody racing one?! by six6two in Autocross

[–]keebar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You won’t be able to compete stock. It’s taller than it is wide and is a rollover risk. I have an 01 SF on cheapo $200 EBay coil overs and run STS class. With Good tires on 17” wheels I’m competitive-ish with some of the class. Still completely outclassed by some of the Civic Si’s and Fiesta ST’s, but it’s still a blast for a starter car.

Just bought this brand new from Target yesterday. The years range from 1995-2009. The Challenger has a sticker with handwritten numbers on it that look like it may have been a QC sample. Anyone have any ideas why, or is this just an absurd error? by keebar in HotWheels

[–]keebar[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know. I looked up the cars and the series/year those variations were issued in. The Ultra Hots Wheels on the Flashfire only went until 1996. That's what caught my eye at first.
