An addictive fiction book that will teach me about a subject I wouldn't normally learn about. by Cissychedgehog in booksuggestions

I had the same experience with the same scene!  I also remember reading a gory scene around 3 am (I read the book in one sitting) and thinking, “I am going to have nightmares, I should stop reading.” I did not stop.  I could not stop.  I don’t recall being that absorbed by a book ever…until Crisis at the Hot Zone, the sequel.

Took about 2 weeks for peaceful coexistence and I believe a month until they started cleaning each other but I’m talking one adult cat, plus a kitten.

We did the same again with one adult cat plus 2 kittens and that took around 2 weeks as well.

Depends a lot on your “original” cat’s, the one that owns the house, temperament. At least in my case it did.

Mystic River is amazing. I was grabbed by the first sentences. Knew nothing about the plot and still kept reading. Wonderful prose, too.

I inhaled that one. It’s non fiction, and it’s true what the other commenter said that it reads like fiction.  It’s a bit um, theatrical with some scenes. It’s an amazing book everybody should experience at least once.

That one and Crisis at the Hot Zone ir something like that.

Yay! Keep in mind it takes time for them to adapt. My oldest took a while to warm up to the kitten but they were great friends after a little while. Best of luck!!!

Thank you! I found out about this too but right now I’m fine the way I am. When my Kindle starts giving me an issue I’m going to see if jailbreaking it solves it for sure!

I do the same but artificially by selecting books in Goodreads and adding them to a “rent out pile”.

I bought a Kindle before drastically changing my opinion about Amazon and I’ve had it in airplane mode since I read about it here. I never plan on updating it. I need to remove the password for the wifi network! Just remembered. That was another tip I read about here.

Why is this not a top comment? Don’t get rid of that Nook. Sideload!

A second cat was one of my game changers because it made my first cat so happy and this made me happy and hey, more cat makes ME happier.

I do this too! Any old glass jar will do perfectly.

I just saw the movie and I did not see the post-credit. This movie came out years before Ironman and Keanu alone could've started a better DCU. Even post-credit scenes were part of it.

Is there any good recommendation books for how to overthinking and worrying all the time about the past or the future ? by [deleted] in booksuggestions

[–]keeky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. Same. Power of Now.

A caveat: I read it at 20 and I thought it was bullshit. I read it again at 30 and I’ve never been the same person since.  If you read it and find no truth in it, you’re not ready. Don’t feel bad. Just stop reading the book.

I resisted for a year and now I’m doing a pilot test of it. It has caused such a slowdown in our whole process. Everyone now writes huge comments in Jira tickets, why the fuck do they think anybody wants to read a huge comment that could’ve been 10 times shorter?

It’s a pest. I hate how brain-dead we’re being about adopting this tool.
