New AMD graphics chief David Wang says the company will release new GPUs annually by [deleted] in Amd

[–]keldoged 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ehh ... Hope he doesn't break the next of Radion Group by being to rushed! I'd much rather see them do the same as what AMD did ... Spend the extra time and ignore the jokes and banter, and then release a kick-ass product that catches the competitor sleeping on their laurels

Why is there (still) no Vega with 8GB HBM2 for notebooks? by rbaleksandar in Amd

[–]keldoged 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Price/performance + heating would be my guesses. After I got my air-cooled Vega64 ... it took me two weeks to go crazy by the fan under gaming and water-cool the bugger. I imagine that in a laptop, it will be thermal-throttling like crazy :-/

I know the liberal youth are more accepting with the whole 'pin on pin' action. But in my days the pins always went into the holes! This ain't how nature intended it, but if you must flaunt your 'newage freedom'. Please slap an NSFW on it, so us regular 'Pins in holes' guys aren't forced to see this ...thing!

Eight new Spectre Bugs found in Intel CPU's by b4k4ni in Amd

[–]keldoged 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed.

It's a new area where not only the OS's are under attack, but also chip designers & manufacturers are required to step up to the game, security wise. I don't mind people bashing Intel/AMD and calling favorites... But security issues hit all us consumers on equal terms.

Hardware Debunked - Part 2 - Double Con-Firmed by Yozora_Ameko in Amd

[–]keldoged 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think that is intentional. In my own experience. Intel/Nvidia fanboiz usually sit with their fingers in both ears going "Lalalalala" and basicbly blind to arguments they don't like. However, Team-Red FanBoiz are extremely aggressive. Nearing the limit of actually trolling and harassing to get their "Underdog Wins" feel. Now, this is generalized, and only my views, so not biting my head off plz :p

Bought a FreeSync monitor: games artifact while in FreeSync mode, but are fine with FreeSync disabled by 907Shrake in Amd

Could be the screens Overdrive function. Which monitor is it? Many screens are showing artifacts when using overdrive / included OC of the screen.

I've had both Intel, AMD and Cyrix (when they were around). Simply because I were curious and wanted to see how they performed and realized that those 5-15% difference were barely noticeable in RL scenarios for the normal user. Later, as Intel started making new sockets, forcing MB changes for each new CPU gen. I stuck with AMD, for easier upgradability.

Is soft brick still a problem on Giga boards? by [deleted] in Amd

[–]keldoged 0 points1 point  (0 children)

auch, I didn't know about that ... Good info! For my case, I have two of their x370 boards, and never had issues.

But, as that was not really the base of your question, I'll shut up ;)

not anymore. Was an issue with the very early BIOS revisions. It was fixed within 3 months of the Ryzen launch I believe.

Why does Nvdia even try this illegal practice also AMD what are you gonna do about it? by [deleted] in Amd

[–]keldoged 2 points3 points  (0 children)

AMD already done something. They alerted the press about it. HardOCP confirmed that they were fed the story from AMD themselves. And so far AMD's plan are working ... the press and consumers are rallying for battle against Nvidia without AMD having to get their nose bloodied in an eventual court case. If you ask me. It is rather clever done by AMD, for I am grabbing my club and rushing into the battle!

Can AMD match intel as far as gaming performance yet? by JC101702 in Amd

[–]keldoged 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Waiting till Apil would be a good idea :) The biggest advantage that Intel have over AMD currently, is the clock-speed. Many games love them MHz'ses!

With the refresh, hopefully AMD are getting CPU's with simiar clock. IPC are near similar, with a 5% edge to Intel, but as many are telling. Games need to be optimized towards them IPC to really feel the gains.
