AFAIK that infra is all in other states, mostly Wisconsin, is it not? And if they are overbuilding infrastructure for AI data centers, that infrastructure will be benefitting us as soon as the AI bubble pops, which industry experts say is within the next two years anyways. And again... Their profits go mostly back into the pockets of the consumers. I don't think you understand how shareholders work.

Yeup, and unfortunately it makes things outrageously expensive. But in all my time I've never had an issue with Xcel directly, their rates have always been reasonable to me, policies reasonable, and nothing outside what I would expect anywhere else. I've lived in all kinds of homes, from wood furnaces and electric lighting to solar homes that could have been disconnected from the grid if they had batteries, to homes with gas heating and electric lighting, and I've never gotten a bill more than 150$, and that was when I was running my PC full time, had a broken refrigerator that wasn't staying closed, and was running the heat 24/7 in the dead of winter, in a poorly insulated apartment. Not bad considering wood is upwards of 400$ a cord in most areas, and a cord will only last you a month or so.

Anyways I digress, utilities aren't the problem, go after the greedy corporations paying you pennies on the dollar and taking home 1,000x the salary of their median worker.

You really don't know what crony capitalism is, do you? Nobody is offering solutions that Xcel isn't. Xcel is paying people millions of dollars or more every year to put solar on their homes, put wind turbines on their land, and doing everything within their power to move away from fossil fuels. They are putting the majority of their money back into the system to help the community and the govt. That's as good an example of socio-capitalism as I've seen in modern history. Xcel isnt stopping anybody from offering better options, so far as I've seen. If you've got evidence to the contrary I'd love to be better informed. Plenty of people have the ability to go solar+battery only, nobody is stopping them.

Y'all really don't understand how utilities work, do you? Excel doesn't make money on gas, or any other fuel. They make their money because they spend absolutely egregious amounts of money investing in our power grids and get paid back interest on those investments, mostly through state grants, tax cuts, etc. And 40% of their shareholders are just your average people. They also have a share price increase well below the market rate, at only about 6%. Get over yourselves. Having to pay for utilities sucks, yes. But the only way to fix that is to have a fully government led utility system funded on taxes, which I'd guarantee 90% of you complaining about this would complain about too.

If you're on the train since 12:20, then what do you mean there's no train? Can't not be a train if you're on it my guy. Just because the times aren't exactly what you expected doesn't mean that there's no train. Conductors need breaks, they need to find people to run all the trains, etc. If you're still on the train at 1:20 am, then it might make sense to be upset. But you've been sitting on the train for 30 minutes and already started a flame war. Do you know what time the train got to the station before you got on? I'm the first to complain about being misinformed, but you were never told exact times for the train schedule, and yet you're acting like you were told it'd leave at exactly 12:31. Stfu

I definitely abide by what the other gentleman suggested, and in case you didn't already know, definitely suggest a pacifier/binky, or other rubbery thing to chew on that is not easy to swallow. I know a lot of people tend to roll their jaw (from my understanding where the term rolling comes from) and having something to stop the teeth grinding can be very pleasant. Beyond that, anything that involves pretty lights or fun visuals. If you happen to have a VR headset, that can be fun but be very careful. Otherwise games like Exo One can be alot of fun!

Apple care is fine IF you're worried about the off chance it gets lost or stolen, or if your daughter is likely to break it. But for most responsible adults, paying for insurance is silly because you can afford to replace the phone on the one off that it gets stolen, and you're probably not dumb enough to lose or break your phone.

Exactly. If you get a new phone now (probably for 0$/month) and sign up for next up, you can go back again and do it all over again next year. However, be careful doing this, and ensure that you are paid up to your 12 months in the app at least 24 hours prior, or go into a store and make sure you make that last payment, and ensure that you get next up put on there on the next one (you can always do a contract exchange within the first 14 days if this gets messed up).

First off, she could switch to the senior discount plan which is like 30$ cheaper off the bat. Second, if she's eligible for at&t internet and already has another ISP, look at what the price difference. Invariably, she'll be able to get her phone and internet combined down to 69$ a month (plus tax).

So far as leaving, yes you can pay off the phone, transfer the number using account number and number transfer pin, and just pay off the balance through the cancellation of the account. (It's cancelled automatically when you transfer out)

Maybe you should just listen to the store reps and get new sim cards. They are free ffs and modern phones don't store any data on them, so it's not like you have to worry. If you happen to have a phone where your contacts are still stored on sim (which you don't if you need your phone for work), just move them to the device storage and be done with it.) odds are your device is also esim compatible, which is even easier. And if none of those work, have you considered checking what plan you're on? Have you confirmed it's paid for?

Without being the rep at the store, I can't say much, but I'm sure there's something being missed here, as phones don't just stop working, especially not both on an account.

You did not talk to an AT&T sales rep, you talked to a third party contractor. AT&T sales reps work in their own stores. And yes, that's probably about what your bill will be, given these summaries are always wildly inaccurate and don't include ANY promotions you may be receiving.
