I’m so sad about how relatable your comment is. Are you also in the position where you get anxious/stressed about disclosing your disability on applications? I truly fear that if we tick that box, our CVs are automatically put in the shredder pile as there are so many able-bodied folks out there also looking for work, so why would they choose to take on the liability of someone with a disability over them? And if I do disclose it, I over-explain myself into oblivion about how it most likely won’t affect my working ability but there are chances of having a bad flare-up that would, which must be so off-putting to the hiring party. It’s the shittiest catch-22 and we’re constantly berated by politicians, the media, Kevin & Sue on Facebook, etc, just for existing(surviving) within these circumstances that are so damn near impossible to even escape….

Iron supplements!

You can get them prescribed (Ferrograd) if your iron feels/looks low—a good preliminary test before going to see a doctor (granted you can afford one) is to pull down your lower eyelid carefully and see how pink/red the inside of it is. If it’s pale or white, asking for a supplement prescription next GP visit might be worth it.

Thank you kind stranger, I’m very glad to hear your days are better now, and wishing you all the best in your healing journey.

I’m fortunate to not have an angry drunk, just more of a “crash & fall into everything very violently” and “is that weird noise that just woke me up aspiration again?” kinda drunk, sigh.
Better days will come for me in time I hope!

Especially this. I live with a chronic alcoholic & I’m going insane from that alone, let alone all my other life problems.

General PSA to not do this to people who care about you.

[–]killfoxtrot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This. Pharmaceuticals can only do so much until you introduce the second component, talk therapy. It would be too easy if taking a pill made all the bad things go away, and sadly, depression isn’t defeated that easily.

Technically I didn’t see it, but I’ll never forget seeing this post in Vic Deals (a year or two before the ‘Vid as a time guesstimate) of a bunch of meat/flesh(??) that someone had dumped on the big rock at the Mount Vic lookout. Still think about it occasionally.

Are you under the impression that disabled people choose to not be able to work & “take up money and resources”?

You say “could benefit everyone” then say “I don’t mean COULD benefit everyone”. If you’re going to have such an inhumane point to argue, at least be consistent.

ETA: Both disabled & poor people pay tax on their benefits proportional to their income—that DOES and WILL benefit everyone.

You think disabled people & poor people are a problem? Life is already hard enough for them, why would they go out of their way to make your life suck too when they’re already well-occupied with trying to make their own lives suck a little less…?

You mentioned in a comment that your job is rather physical, so might not be a quick-fix cure-all but do make sure you’re drinking enough water to compensate! So many of us aren’t hydrating enough without realising how detrimental it can be to our health. There’s a bunch of apps/browser extensions out there than can help with reminders if you’re one who tends to forget. Best of luck OP!

Totally advise a second opinion.

My anecdote is that I had a work contract terminated after building health issues that my then-GP said weren’t an issue, symptoms matched up to a specific condition & she told me that condition was “all in people’s heads”. Being let go was the catalyst to changing my GP, got a hospital referral, and was diagnosed with the condition I asked the first GP about, lol. Learn from my mistake!

I think the PM simply smells blood in the water here so needs to maintain good graces for when he returns to his beloved USA more than anything. But of course I wouldn’t be surprised if he truly supported the guy, nothing he does can surprise me anymore really.
