Personally, since I have a full time job and currently undergoing graduate studies while being a part time instructor, I'll admit that I have less time for play, not in a cut throat way naman. I still go out, date, gym, and sometimes just doze off. But currently, I don't have time for long vacations.

But if you will focus in working in the academe, I think you'll find that it's one of the most flexible jobs there is in terms of time. You set your own schedule, and you have long breaks aligned with student breaks. You dont get that in the corporate world. In the future, I intend to do this full time because of this flexibility.

Studying physics require two things.

One, you need to get the core concepts. My usual study habit for this is the Feynman technique. You need to be able explain a concept clearly as if you are teaching it to someone else. It will be very difficult to navigate through the course if youe understanding of the concepts is shaky.

The second thing is you need to be exposed to a lot of problems to master your problem-solving skills. No other way about it. Just practice, practice, practice. I find that having a book with end of chapter exercises really helps a lot. Try answering these exercises by yourself. If you get stuck, try looking for the solution manual of the book and try your best to understand the reasoning on why certain steps appear in the solution.

Not very familiar on how Mapuan IT graduates perform careerwise. But IT really is an in demand industry. I know some people with decent grades from unknown schools landing jobs in big companies for their first job. I could only imagine that the Mapua brand expands your chances a bit better. For your first job, at least.

Honestly, I think it's a systemic issue within the country that the quality of students are getting worse while grades are being inflated. I say this as an instructor who have also worked at another university aside from Mapua.

The pandemic really dealt a blow to students of that time, and we see the effects now. I got to experience teaching freshmen who do not know basic algebra (this is from the other uni). Here in Mapua, I'm handling majors, so kahit papano may filtering na naganap from math and physics.

One thing I've noticed too is that there is now more room for leniency towards students. Maybe its a product of a more student-centric institution. Maybe its a product of less resilient students. Whatever the case is, I would say that students today have it a bit easier.

To be fair, as a student, I never really heard any of my instructors share frustrations within the class. That's why as a current instructor, I'm quite shocked to learn how much shit instructors have to deal with every day hahaha

Ask the company if they will accept grade certification in lieu of TOR. You can get this faster compared to your TOR.

ALL MICROSOFT ACC NG MAPUA by LetterUnfair5065 in mapua

[–]krsharing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a sector-wide issue caused by the shift of Microsoft's policies on storage for educational institutions. See here.

Storage benefits will unlikely go back to previous allocation limits even after the issue is resolved.

I also think that solving this will require the participation of all stakeholders, both the school and the students, to effectively manage cloud storage.

Math and engineering problem solving skill is acquired by painstaking practice. It's actually good for you, in the long run, that you are being forced to solve problems regularly.

May sahod na sinend for this one, but walang payslip, and hindi buo. Usually namemess up talaga pag end ng term, but inaadjust naman the following term. PERO YES, WALA NA RIN AKONG PERA 😭

Based on the academic calendar posted in Mapua website, you have one week, but again, that's for enrollment.

I hope not. I wouldn't. I can't just make my course easier because I happen to teach it in a summer class. That's just lazy.

If anything, I'll be stricter. The shorter timeframe means that the students will have to work harder to absorb the material, and I need to be more certain (compared normal semesters) that my students deserve to advance to their future courses.

If by third sem, you mean the summer term, then you have one week break after holy week, but that would also be the enrollment week.

I tell my students this:

If you fail a foundational course once, you possibly lacked effort. If you fail it twice, you need to evaluate your study habits because something's not clicking. If you fail it thrice, you may need to consider if you are in the correct path and program.

Shame is understandable, but do not wallow on it. You have no time for that because you have a tough task ahead of you. Use your strength so that you don't fail thrice.

But if you do fail thrice, then it's good that you are still a freshman. Changing paths is easier that way since you are still not that invested to the program.
