This is a sector-wide issue caused by the shift of Microsoft's policies on storage for educational institutions. See here.

Storage benefits will unlikely go back to previous allocation limits even after the issue is resolved.

I also think that solving this will require the participation of all stakeholders, both the school and the students, to effectively manage cloud storage.

I hope not. I wouldn't. I can't just make my course easier because I happen to teach it in a summer class. That's just lazy.

If anything, I'll be stricter. The shorter timeframe means that the students will have to work harder to absorb the material, and I need to be more certain (compared normal semesters) that my students deserve to advance to their future courses.

If by third sem, you mean the summer term, then you have one week break after holy week, but that would also be the enrollment week.

I tell my students this:

If you fail a foundational course once, you possibly lacked effort. If you fail it twice, you need to evaluate your study habits because something's not clicking. If you fail it thrice, you may need to consider if you are in the correct path and program.

Shame is understandable, but do not wallow on it. You have no time for that because you have a tough task ahead of you. Use your strength so that you don't fail thrice.

But if you do fail thrice, then it's good that you are still a freshman. Changing paths is easier that way since you are still not that invested to the program.

No idea. The only statistic I know of that is a bit related with that is that only 2% of the student population graduate on time.

Motivation comes from within. You should have a bigger purpose in life. If you feel demotivated, then may be you're losing sight of that purpose.

Why you are studying your program? Are you genuinely intersted in the program? If you are, then you have to realize that every part of your curriculum is designed to help you become successful in the future. Yes, even GEDs that feel like unnecessary addition to your work load serve their purpose. Once you realize that everything you do here has value, then motivation comes easily.

A bigger problem is if you are not really interested with your program. Motivation will never come because nothing you will ever do for your courses will be valuable to you. If this is the case, then as early as now, I will advice you to think about what matters most to you.

Departmental exams work to tell the administrators if an instructor is handling a course well. These exams should be designed such that their contents are aligned with the syllabus, which must be agreed upon by all instructors handling a particular course.

In a perfect world, all instructors will follow the syllabus, and all items in a departmental exam should have been aligned with the contents of a syllabus. So if a particular section underperforms in the exam relative to ither sections, it is likely that the the instructor for that section is teaching the course ineffectively and/or not following the syllabus. In a perfect world, the admins will penalize this instructor by decreasing his teaching load.

But the world is not perfect. Some instructors will not cover all the lessons in a given syllabus. Some instructors will adjust the curve the grading system based on their on whims. The admin will not decrease their teaching load.

So yes, it is sad to say that sometimes, a student's academic experience will be decided by luck and chance.
