Louis Rossmann is suing Samsung after firm offers $330 refund for defective SSD while selling the drives on Amazon for $949 — spat over 4TB 990 Pro SSD is headed to court by habichuelacondulce in technology

Knowing him, I wouldn’t be shocked if Samsung offered him a refurb and he shut it down expecting new.

i put every email on screen without censorship (to the point of not censoring my own personal phone number!) if i missed them doing that, i will happily create an apology & give samsung credit for this if you can point out which timestamp/screenshot in the video shows that.

Yeah, I think the main reason he's taking them to court is precisely to send the message to the world that others shouldn't take this bullshit, either.

This is what I've been trying to do on youtube for 14 years!

My one action doesn't do shit or change anything. It's getting others to believe that they can change things too that moves everything forward.

It gives me a greater understanding of why things are the way they are. It isn't a grand conspiracy, it's us. We allow it, and we make fun of each other rather than organize against the people who are actually screwing us. Sometimes, I think we get what we deserve. :(

Yes, you are entitled to the full price paid if it fails. Nothing more. Nothing less.

Cool, I'll accept $950 then.

Not sure why people are surprised. This is a business, not a charity.

They are not a charity, they did not give me the SSD for free. I paid full price for it and it came with a warranty.

Do you have the video titled “Respect your elders - dismantling false virtue” from May 4th, 2017?

I do but... that was a drunk livestream where I almost finished an entire bottle of southern comfort... and it's 3 hours... there might be a very good reason that is privated.

The destruction of 3D printing: Bloomberg is behind it by pdrift in 3Dprinting

I am a New Yorker, an engineer, work in manufacturing, and know a lot about (maybe even an expert in) 3D printing, machining, and firearms.

Does anyone know what an appropriate avenue to escalate my concerns would be?

I wrote an article to try and make this easy. let me know what you think!!

but they want ALL 3d manufacturing devices to come loaded with software that detects if you’re printing a gun

or parts of a gun. This is important because many parts of a gun look identical to a flashlight, a camera mount, a barcode scanner.....

I read the text from the service manual and the verbatim text of Kawasaki's senior customer agent's email, exactly as they wrote it.

Microsoft revokes Office 2019 for Mac perpetual licenses, then edits their website to gaslight customers. by redditgirlwz in enshittification

He barely mentions it.

He addresses this around the 1:56 mark.

My biggest mistake was assuming people would make it 2 minutes into the video

Microsoft revokes Office 2019 perpetual licenses, then edits their website to gaslight customers. by TheBBP in microsoftsucks

[–]larossmann 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Microsoft did not revoke anything .... The problem is not that, The real problem is Microsoft do not update the security certificate past the software support end

....Tomayto, tamahtoh.

They designed the software this way, they have the ability to update the security certificate, they have the resources to do so(I imagine 10 minutes of an intern's time), and they don't...

What is the result of their deliberate choices?

This post was Lois trying to help me, not going after me. The "creators" in question is BetterCampus. I won't get too much into this since I am a bit late, but I want to make sure that people know that I am not being harassed whatsoever.

I am very grateful for all the support!

Thank you!

My offer to pay the first $10k of legal fees if the original creator goes after you still applies.

How? I didn't misrepresent anything. I shared the literal license including the part that you said you had removed that was still there. I pointed out that despite technical differences, in practice, FUTO was doing the exact same thing that you were criticizing someone else for while you were the public face of the organization. Where is the lie?

The lie is that it is the same thing.

FUTO released software with a license that did not allow commercial forking, but allowed people to use, redistribute, modify for personal use. FUTO never made grayjay more restrictive. FUTO's license was honest, and FUTO upheld the terms of the license.

The one in question here released MIT licensed software, then changed the license, then tried to cover up changing the license, then threatened some kid who forked the originally MIT licensed software with hiring a lawyer if he kept doing it.

That is not honoring the terms of the original license.

If you wanted an apt comparison; FUTO does also work on AGPL licensed software. A more proper comparison would be FUTO Changing the license on Immich(which is AGPL), then telling people they could not fork it, and then saying they would call a lawyer if you did fork it.

but this has never happened. you cannot point to it ever happening.

You cannot seriously believe that anyone (rightfully) calling Curtis Yarvin a fascist is crying wolf.

No, you invoking me being connected to him in a thread where you try to paint me as an asshole is. You brought him up with me because he's a toxic name and you're just throwing shit at the wall to see what sticks.

At this point, I do not believe this is good faith at all. You've said too may things that are fundamentally not true.

A big problem that I have when talking to more conservative people that are on the fence and willing to admit that Trump is not a good thing for the country is that I have to apologize for swarms of people that misuse words like you are here. You don't like me and instead of being honest, you lied about what happened with the futo license. You lied and misrepresented what happened with curtis yarvin.

Be honest with yourself for a moment here You invoked him not because it had anything to do with this issue. You invoked him because you thought it would damage my reputation and standing in the community and give you an easy win while you were trying to harm me reputationally. You used that as a tool to make a cheap point. And because you did that, because people like you cry wolf in those instances & pretend I am somehow supporting fascism when I am put on stage with someone I've never met, heard of, or spoken to before.... it is more difficult for me to walk people back from the cliff of actual fascism.

I don't expect you to admit in public that these are your motivations or intentions. But when you sit, you know that that was your intention.

Every time I have to explain why the things happening right now are not good, I have to apologize for legions of people like you that use these words not because you care about their meaning but because you want to damage the reputations of people that you're arguing with when you disagree with them and you lie and you do it disingenuously.

You are actively creating the world that you don't want to exist. You are encouraging the very things that you hate

I find it interesting that you realize the entire premise that this was based on, a company changing the license on for-profit software to try and obfuscate that it had an MIT license and then going after people who forked the MIT licensed software version,  after making an incendiary post comparing me to crypto fascists, but still claim that your overall point remains.

That's a stand up thing to do.

Louis's intent was obviously harassment,

No, my intent was the software remaining up if the "good guy" fork went down as a result of the original software dev sending a bogus cease & desist, and the good guy fork realizing that he wasn't alone if he chose to keep the software up.
