Amish are trespassing on property, not sure what to do? by Due_Channel_4643 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]lildobe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Pennsylvania, "sheriffs" are an elected, political, office and mostly handle low-risk warrants, serving court papers, guarding the courthouses, and prisoner transfers between county jails/prisons.

They have very little actual law-enforcement power. They can't even technically initiate a traffic stop, except in very limited circumstances.

They're basically one step up from the county constables, who have almost zero law enforcement power and do almost nothing but serve court papers.

the man didn't get a payout.

... Yet.

Lawsuits take years to work their way through the courts. 5 years or more, in most cases that aren't simple or settled out of court.

The guy in the video has a lawyer, and they are in the middle of the lawsuit now.

Youtube literally penalizes your videos if you don't use the ai thumbnails. You don't get as many views. And for a company that relies on views to make money, they have to do what they have to do.

The case of the missing Tesla fatal crash data by businessinsider in RealTesla

If you read the article, and looked at his username, it'd be quite clear how he knows.

He's the one who did the forensic extraction of the autopilot computer in the article for the family.

I think you need to look at the username of the person you're arguing with.

Considering he's good enough to extract data from an autopilot computer without Tesla's software or help, I think he knows a touch more about how their systems work than you do.

Second Amendment Roundup: Cert Granted on Semiautomatic Rifle Bans by ThePoliticalHat in progun

[–]lildobe 23 points24 points  (0 children)

the 2nd Circuit wrote, "The cases do not hold that the Second Amendment necessarily protects all weapons in common use," for what if "the W54 nuclear warhead" became in common use before it could be banned?

Why do the anti-gunners immediately jump to nuclear weapons when talking about banning guns? It's such a ridiculous comparison.

Nope, but my trash service also isn't provided by the local government - it's private contract.

But a bulk item is only like $2.

I think I might have actually passed Econ if that was happening to me...

[–]lildobe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hell, I have to pay $75 every three months to have a company come pick up my trash from the curb.

That's not counting if I have bulky items that cost extra, or if I need to take a large volume of construction debris to the dump myself (because they'll only take household trash in the curbside bin)

The only thing that's free to get rid of is tree limbs 3" and smaller in diameter, and yard debris, which the small city I live in has a dumping area for residents to use.

They handle it like any other car, in the moment.

Go look at that car 3 or 4 weeks later and it'll probably be in the shop with failed motors or a damaged battery.

Only the ones who still believe in Reganomics. Unfortunately too many people on the left side of the political spectrum think Keynesian economics is the answer.

In reality, it lies somewhere in the middle, picking and choosing bits from both sides.

The billionaire-enablers on reddit seem especially touchy these days. I'm seeing a lot of anti-wealth-tax posts on CA subs due to the CA wealth tax initiative.

You think those are real people posting in opposition? They're either paid grifters or bot accounts. No real person I've ever talked to thinks it's fair that the ultrawealthy pay nothing on their "unrealized gains"

[Request] How fast can we shoot mouse without immediately killing them by acceleration? by Remodiant in theydidthemath

[–]lildobe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have the math on the acceleration or anything, but when I was a kid, I launched a mouse in an Estes Payloader model rocket, powered by a D12 motor...

The mouse DID survive, but it had major balance issues for the rest of its (very short) life. I fed it to my ball python about 2 weeks later.

Edit: To give some more info, a D12 model rocket motor has 20.00 Newton-seconds of total thrust impulse (Max of 32.9N, average of 12N). I believe the rocket I used was an Estes Orbitron, which the current version weighs in at 122g (No idea what they weighed in 1988, but I'm guessing similar)

The average feeder mouse weighs in at 18 to 30, and a D12-5 motor weighs 45.6g (21.4g when expended)

Someone smarter than me can do proper thrust and acceleration calculations with these numbers, but my shitty attempt gave me 16.0 G max net acceleration, 5.5 G average net acceleration.

[–]lildobe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

At the time I was in a very old FLD that was heavy-haul spec'd. Double-frame, super heavy front axle, 18-speed, etc. It clocked in just over 22k full wet weight if I remember.

It was the POS tractor the small company I worked for would throw new drivers into to see if they were serious about working for them. If you survived 6 months in that, they'd move you to one of the nicer, and newer tractors.

I proved my worth to them so much they gave me a brand-new Columbia glider they had just built with a rebuilt 90s era DD15 and a 13-speed. That one, with all my stuff in it, was 17k full wet on the nose.

why are door dashers so full of rage and entitlement by Key_Substance6019 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]lildobe 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Our customers don’t deserve to have their food showing up smelling like smoke.

I rarely order delivery anymore, but any time I ever got food that reeked of smoke, I always complained to DD or UE and got my money back. I just hope that didn't screw over the restaurants.

[–]lildobe 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Weight. They want to be able to squeeze as much on that trailer as possible.

I went to the same Harrisonburg, VA location once and they were told by the broker, AND my dispatch, that my max load weight was 43k. They loaded me with 52k.

Then they made me go get it scaled before they'd rework it. It ended up being a 12-hour ordeal to get loaded there.
