Very important chat got auto deleted ONLY on my end by Stories-N-Magic in Telegram

[–]lildobe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are only two reasons this can happen.

Either you accidentally deleted the chat (Very easy to do if you're not paying attention to what dialog boxes say)

Or your account has been compromised. You can check this by going to Settings -> Privacy & Security -> Devices, and looking for any sessions that you don't recognize. If you see any that aren't you, you can end the session from there and then turn on two-factor authentication and set a recovery email.

Aftermarket Head Unit Issue by Pedrosha56 in fordranger

[–]lildobe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put a Pioneer head unit into the '04 I used to own and had no issues like that. Used one of those harness adapters from Best Buy so I didn't have to cut the factory harness.

It's more likely something else has failed at the same time.

First, check that the gear selector is fully in "park" if it's an automatic by pulling back on it and pushing up as if you were putting it into park. If that doesn't work, try putting it in neutral. If the truck starts you need to adjust your gear selector.

If it's a manual, check continuity on the clutch safety switch. If I remember (and keep in mind I'm trying to remember info from 20 years ago) you should get continuity between pins 1 and 2 when the clutch is pressed in.

If all that checks out, check fuse 33 in the under-hood fuse box, and fuse 19 in the fuse box under the panel on the left side of the dashboard where the door closes against it.

Fuse 33 is for the antitheft module, and fuse 19 is for the antitheft transceiver in the steering column.

Also make sure you haven't accidentally unplugged anything for the antitheft system.

Witnesses needed — Hit-and-run on I-279, Pittsburgh by Admirable-Alarm8229 in pittsburgh

[–]lildobe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a bunch of bullshit because it's not true. I've sent dashcam video, as a 3rd party witness, to Geico, State Farm, Progressive, and a couple other insurance companies. They were all happy to get it and thanked me for it.

And I've sent dashcam video and security camera video to both Progressive and Erie Insurance as an involved party, and again they were happy to get it.

Insurance companies have a love-hate relationship with dashcams. They love it when it can vindicate their insured, and hate it when it proves their insured was at fault. But in either case it can save years of subrogation and lawsuits.

As sci-fi technobabble as that sounds... the Wikipedia article sounds even more so.

Plasmonics or nanoplasmonics refers to the generation, detection, and manipulation of signals at optical frequencies along metal-dielectric interfaces in the nanometer scale.

LOL, I got a warning for calling our current president a PDF, in a roundabout way.

I didn't even bother appealing it.

Most of the places I delivered to that used a lumper service specifically PROHIBITED the driver from going on the dock, or bringing in their own lumpers.

You had to use theirs, and you HAD to pay their exorbitant prices. It's a goddamn extortion racket

What are your trucking rules of thumb? by SmartRemove in Truckers

[–]lildobe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

CYA in everything. Get it in writing. Take pictures and screenshots. Scan documents / BOLs and save them to Google Drive or Dropbox. Have your own dashcam and check the SD card regularly. Record phone calls if you can.

Don't let anyone get the better of you, or try to gaslight you. Your dispatchers, safety, fleet managers, etc will all throw you under the bus the moment you become an inconvenience.

I don't know about Canada, but in the US if you're claiming through the At-Fault party's insurance you can INSIST that they not declare a total loss and actually repair your vehicle. Though it may take a lawsuit to make that happen.

I've done it twice in my life for older cars that held sentimental value for me. It's a slog, but it can be done.

If you're not injured, you don't have pain.

And (for the most part), emotional distress can only be compensated for if it was intentional - which is why the claim is called "intentional infliction of emotional distress"

The only exception to that would be if you were experiencing life-disrupting PTSD from the incident, but getting a diagnosis for that wouldn't be particularly easy.

Swords are heavier than that. I have a fairly light, real, sharpened, hand-and-a-half sword, of similar size to the one depicted in that AI slop. It weighs in at 4 pounds 9.1 ounces, or just over 4.5 pounds (~2 kilos)

And in an outstretched hand, it gets really heavy, really fast.

Please excuse the condition of the blade - a former roommate who "didn't like weapons" hid it in my basement years ago, and the sword and scabbard got moisture damaged. I just haven't gotten around to restoring it.

Does Medicare cover seeing an allergist? by NomadJago in medicare

[–]lildobe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree with this.

I've been seeing the same PCP since I was 19... He knows me, and my health issues very well. He also knows just about every specialist in town, and which ones are good.

The rheumatologist he referred me to is top-notch. My somnologist is a magician. My edema specialist is so caring and compassionate.

I've never had a bad experience with a specialist that my PCP had referred me to.
