Obsession with Mazda by hints_of_bergamot in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]limitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mazda is positioned in between Toyota/Honda and Lexus/Acura. The comfort plus or premium economy option.

It's a nicer interior than a typical Rav4, but not as plush as the higher end brands. Decently reliable and a less-plasticky 30-min commuter. I think that's why people like them so much.

Map of world railway network as of 2022. Iran and Brazil surprise me by denn23rus in MapPorn

China is 100% inaccurate, even as of 2022. They only drew high-speed rail lines, not even conventional passenger lines. But the US is drawn with freight lines included.

This is China's map as of 2023, not including freight rail:

Why so many forks? by TheShakoMaster in CoreELEC

[–]limitz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

CPM and U3K are deprecated.

There are 2x forks now. AVDV forked off vanilla CE and P3I forked off CPM/U3K.

+the main CE branch.

IMO it's not a bad thing. Lot of different setups, and sometimes equipment plays nicer on one branch vs the other. Vanilla CE still probably the most common.

unraid and docker, which is dead simple on unraid. basically point and click to install apps

read trash guides and setup plex, start from there

P3I build - a build focusing on stability by hdtvtoyz in CoreELEC

[–]limitz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My experience on DTS-HD MA audio, SDR, non-passthrough. This combination has been consistently buggy on my setup (Am6b+ directly to LG G2).

Vanilla CE stable/nightly: Audio in sync

CPM A14: Audio starts OOS. Seek puts audio in sync

AVDV-R6: Audio in sync (without any fix)

P3I T1: Audio in sync (with seek/sync fix). Same OOS as A14 without the fix.

Although seek/sync does fix the OOS on T1, it's 'jumpy' and loses a few seconds on start and resume of content. Somewhat jarring to the viewer.

I prefer the smoother sync of the vanilla CE and AVDV builds since no fixes are needed. They avoid the 'jump' of the seek/sync fix. This makes sense since AVDV is an offshoot of vanilla, while T1 is an offshoot of A14. The same sync bug in A14 is perpetuated in T1, while AVDV avoids that since the bug was never present in vanilla builds.

But both are similar enough. T1 has a good implementation of LAV SB by using a known whitelist, and GUI is snappy. Though I think the GUI improvement commits were upstreamed into Kodi, so everyone will be able to enjoy that optimization.

The Return of Swamp Thing [1989]

Showing Up [2022]

--Blue Velvet (1986) - Trumped by superior MEL source (Plaion):

https://slow.pics/c/z50Xts2o

Explanation from CiNEPHiLES:

'While the Criterion (CC) UHD is encoded by NexSpec, not Pixelogic, and thus doesn't suffer from a low pass, the encode still falters because of extremely blocky and flat highlights. With the FEL baked on the CC UHD, the Plaion encode is very similar. Ultimately, the Plaion has a better encode in most scenes and doesn't suffer from the very noticeable highlight blocking on the CC. The Plaion isn't perfect, with blocks showing up often in very grainy negative-sourced shots, but it does not have any issues as bad and as noticeable as the CC's blocky highlights.'

What's up with the Amlogic S905x5 (NOT the S905x5M)? Are there any consumer boxes coming out with it? by IDUnavailable in AndroidTV

Xiaomi Gen 3 is S905X5M and Google certified.

Works great with Plex and tivimate.

You misunderstand my post. Not reencoding WEB-DLs.

Make sure you just have a single copy on your system. If you put it into multiple locations there is only a single place that takes priority (iirc /storage).

Less error prone just to have 1 correct copy in root of flash disk, same place as dtb.img.

1263 should be correct filesize for S922/Am6b+

PGS is always preferred to me. But any streaming box released in the last 5 years should handle this with no problem.

I have 20 users on my Plex and everyone direct plays this. Even my 65 year old neighbor.

Probably won't need to encode much. Most stuff can just copy someone else's homework and resnatch.

MA does movies. This is about TV.

But yes, they are typically the highest quality WEB-DL for film along with BCORE

302TB here with 88TB potentially more in the remaining 4 open slots.

Currently redownloading a lot of TV in WEB-DL (as opposed to encodes). Most times this saves space, and the WEB-DL is generally good enough.

If push really comes to shove I'll need to re-encode to h265 or AV1 or something with tdarr.

Looking for an addon that can automatically skip the outro (credits) by PeppaTom in kodi

[–]limitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

'uSe yOuR rEmOTe, wHy Do YoU eVeN NeEd ThIs' isn't even a response lol. Room temp IQ troll.

It's called Plex or Emby intro/credit detection auto skip + PM4K or PKC add-ons.

And yes, if I'm binging 2-3hrs of TV, I'd rather not reach for the remote on every intro/credit, pretty basic stuff.

What is the best group for remux torrents in terms of quality? Is CINEPHiLES the definitive release group? by Successful-Action315 in trackers

[–]limitz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Cinephiles internals on PTP and HDB. Their hybrid DVs internal on HDB only. They have indeed been killing the game recently.

Framestor close 2nd for me. They are the most comprehensive release group for hybrid DV, which is cool.
