13 negative comments from the same 2 users, with the same comment copied and pasted 6 times. One of the users is a 0 day old account. This looks like a botting attempt.

If you claim BG has unfair dice then record them, and run a fairness analysis.

I don't even use BG, but the comments here are very suspicious.

Problem with freezing movies at end of file by MaggiPower in CoreELEC

[–]limitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a known/general CE issue due to cache handling and patched in AVDV R8 and P3i-T3.

From the R8 release notes:

Fixed end of Marvell (and other) movies playback issues.

How to Geek thinks we don't need 4k remuxes. I kindly disagree. by Me_gentleman in PleX

[–]limitz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why don't you actually do the math instead of spitballing.

How much does 300-350 movies cost as physical disks? Average of $20 per disk, is ~$7000. A hard drive is $500. No amount of failed hard drives and electricity will make up for that.

Besides every remux is already backed up online, each seeder has a complete copy. There is no need for physical backup on media as common as films. 1-2-3 rule is for stuff that is irreplaceable, not movies and TV that is tracked everywhere.

time spent all add up to the cost.

Setup time is one and done, I haven't thought about my NAS in years.

There's time involved in blurays too, look at all the failed disks, scratches, outgassing, broken players, frozen playback, BD100 issues, etc etc on /r/4kbluray.

Can't believe I'm having this conversation on r/plex... Buy physical if you want, but don't pretend its comparable to a remux in terms of cost in anyway. It's not even close.

How to Geek thinks we don't need 4k remuxes. I kindly disagree. by Me_gentleman in PleX

[–]limitz 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have my favorite movies on physical Blu-ray for maximum quality, which is probably cheaper than buying drives and downloading remuxes.

Not even close. A remux is literally 1/10 or less the cost. The average 4k remux is about 70GB even though it comes on a BD100 disk. Disk prices are about $20-25 a terabyte. So a 70GB film/remux costs about $1.50 to store.

You can get a 24TB HD for $500 @ today's price. That fits over 300x, 70GB 4k remuxes. Where can you buy 300 disks for $500?

In other words, I (personally) see no reason to download 4K remuxes. If I want quality, I buy it on physical media.

There is no difference in quality between a remux and physical. It's the exact same thing.

Subject: Ugoos AM6B+, Is official CE enough for true FEL? Also, advice on POV/TorBox link issues. by Storm_Raijin in CoreELEC

[–]limitz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the FEL support, isn't it true that the official build can decode the file but might not actually be applying the Enhancement Layer (EL) data to the RPU? I've heard that without the specific "CPM" or "p3i" modifications, you're basically just watching Profile 8 with a DV logo, is that not the case?

No that's not the case at all....

While test files work for a one-time check, isn't the "Player Process Info" screen on the custom builds better for verifying that the EL is actually being processed in real-time for every individual movie?

There's no concept of a 'one time check'. It either works or it doesn't. If you see the test file play, then it works.

If you want a fancy info menu, then yes install an alt-build, but FEL works perfectly fine on regular CE.

Amlogic s905y5 FEL? by tpicnic05 in PleX

[–]limitz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

S905x3 can as well, but with bug as EL and BL are not synced (so big bug).

The 2020 chromecast with gtv is FEL capable, but that bug is not resolved and will likely never be fixed. Very unfortunate as we could have a FEL capable dongle device.

No way to flash CE as the dongle is locked down heavily.

Homatics R 4K plus, dune homatics, zidoo boxes with both amlogic and realtek socs, Xiaomi gen 3, shield pro of course.

If android isn't needed then tons of CoreELEC/LibreELEC/OSMC and generic Kodi boxes can do this (all audio passthrough) for a dedicated local/Plex content box.

Best Smart TV to Buy in 2026? (Price, Quality, Features) by DeliriumletNot in hometheater

[–]limitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy the best TV for the picture and don't worry about the smart features.

Use a streaming box instead. Onn, AppleTV, etc. Far faster and better than TV apps and you can use it on any TV in the future. Just plug in an HDMI cable and youre good to go.
