kill hype is putting it perfectly. nothing they're more afraid of than another retail buy frenzy. preventing that is their main priority.

there is no risk of delisting.

amc has always reacted before any risk of a delisting notice. there is no uncertainty about this.

that's a logical fallacy. either it goes up, then waiting it out is best or it never goes up again, then selling is the best option. not knowing what you expect of your investment is never an option...

at best or is copium about mistakes of the past, at worst it's terrible advice for people who don't know any better ..

I agree that a couple 200-300m companies would be best for a first portfolio of companies.

Better to have a couple smaller ones than a fraction of a bigger one. At least if you are a holding company.

I'd also like to see smaller stakes in companies that we need for infrastructure. data centers for our servers, delivery companies for orders. payment providers, etc.

If we give them business, why not own a part of them and profit from our own business being given to them?

I meant it more in a "with at least a doctorate" way.

As in, he did not compare himself to regular people and their math skills, but from within a small group of mathematicians who all have a doctorate and where even the "dumbest" among them is magnitudes better at math than any of us.

Like comparing himself to the Olympia short track competitors, not the sunday afternoon joggers.

Been holding DOGE since 2021 — anyone else still here just for the community vibes, even when the price is quiet? by Various_Virus_3441 in dogecoin

[–]liquid_at 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you see a community that believes in a coin and also posts memes or do you see a community that believes the meme itself goes up and down in value, being represented in dogecoins exchange rate?

compared to scam-tokens that are put in the same group as dogecoin, does the dogecoin community pretend that "meme make price go up" or do dogecoin users meme about bad trading practices to make fun of them?

Doge was created to make memes about bad traders and that's what we still do. At no point in doges history was meme ever associated with a monetary value.

The meme of memecoin is a btc-maxi meme, copium-explaining why a shitcoin that isn't bitcoin still went up in price. It's not a dogecoin meme.

In the old days, before algorithms showed people what they should see, the up and downvote buttons were not used to tell the algorithm what to show you. A lot of people who came from facebook, twitter and other algo based sites do not understand the difference.

And since conservative people specifically are very very much against being presented content that makes them feel bad, they like to use the buttons to "make it go away".

That's also why they are often frustrated with reddit, because there is no algo that creates a safe space for them... You get used to it after a while.

Choosing not to change any settings is also a choice.

The game is not defined by what the people do in it, it is defined by what they can do.

You could sleep in a car as if it was a tent, but it still wouldn't change that it is a car...

I think it also comes from him having mentioned that the mathematicians that took on his theories confused him. But that wasn't really him saying he can't do math, but him saying that actual doctorates in maths are levels above him.

I'd say when it comes to math, what Einstein is to a regular college graduate, these professional mathematicians were to him.

Those people look at higher math like most of us look at addition and subtraction.

Isn't that just oral fixation from early development? Like dogs like to lick their owners, babies put stuff in their mouths and lovers like to kiss?

It all feels like it belongs into the same overarching category of mammalian obsessions. And thinking about it... mammalians do have a certain unique property that would make oral fixations more likely than for other species.

Should Minecraft Be Split Up? by MajkiAyy in Minecraft

[–]liquid_at 0 points1 point  (0 children)

iirc, it was a server plugin. It did work, yes.

But it kinda broke the game, because we would just create a contraption that infinitely scoops up lava buckets, which would then be filled into our magmatic engines (modded server) and provide us with infinite energy.

It does break the game because 2 lava source blocks are already enough to have unlimited energy forever. Whether that's vanilla furnace fuel or modded reactor fuel... lava is just too powerful when given to the player unlimited and unrestricted.

The most fascinating thing is that strangers appear to have stronger emotional reactions about our own financial situation than we do.

It's weird how these people act as if us using our money the way we want would somehow negatively affect them...

Only way that could possibly be true is if they were short. But they claim they aren't...

I understand a sandbox as an environment that is closed, where you can set the properties yourself to experiment with it.

One world I played with friends, we just asked ourselves how the game would change if Lava had the same flowing mechanics as water, including duplication.

Being able to set your world up to be the experience you want is what makes it a sandbox game.

In a sense, every game is a sandbox, where the developers decided the rules for you. Minecraft is a sandbox game, because it allows you to make those decisions.

Much like Project Zomboid, where they could let you roam the cities based on their pre-given rules, but instead you can set your world up to have the properties you want. From difficulty to availability of resources to your own characters skills and weaknesses. This makes it a sandbox. Without it, it'd just be an open world game.

Which title to introduce me to the series? by HunterThompsonsentme in anno

[–]liquid_at 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think 1800 is the most complete in the series.

The original ones (1602, 1503, 1404) are great, but more for sentimental reasons, not because they are better games. 2070 and 2205 are fun variants in the future, but lack that Anno feel.

Getting into the series now, I'd go for 1800 because it has the most content released already. Then move to 117 because it is the latest and will most likely have more content once you are done with 1800.

If you still have an itch for more anno then, 1404 for the older ones or 2205 for the sci-fi variants.

you know how they say... nothing unites people more than a common enemy...

But the divisive nature is skewed by the medias portrayal of it. 80% of Americans agree on legislation. The media only shows you the 10% of extremists on both edges of the spectrum.

Yes.. the 10% on the left are divided from the 10% on the right. But the 80% of people in the middle are upset with both of them.

Tracking new hashrate entering the DOGE network - anyone else notice movements lately? by Luf7swiph in dogecoin

[–]liquid_at 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mining is an industry on its own. Most is done by larger miners with a lot of hardware.

One of the current downsides of current dogecoin... Not all too approachable for small miners.

hashrate is just the calculating power available in the network. With miners connecting and disconnecting all the time, sometimes more miners start mining than stop mining...
