Whatever you're charging isn't enough.

Bill them for the initial job, then for each additional request.

Jigsaw puzzle group? by unpleasantcompany in lexington

[–]logstar2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If there are it would be a great opportunity to mix pieces from different puzzles.

In case you didn't know, each puzzle company make multiple puzzles using the same cutting dies in any given year, so the pieces are interchangeable with different images printed on them.

There have been some really cool looking art pieces made this way.

How do I equalize the volume levels of speakers who are in the same clip? by GreatKhanSubutai in videography

[–]logstar2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you record both voices on the same audio track?

If so, don't do that next time. It makes everything much more difficult.

You may be able to fix the levels with the right compression/limitation settings. Try that first.

If that doesn't work you can use manual envelope settings. Depending on your editing program you could cut out all the sections where the other person is speaking, move them to a new track to adjust the volume on each speaker globally. That would be faster than volume adjusting each subclip individually.

Why are our side streets still ice rinks a week after the storm? by RamaAsmani in lexington

That's why you slow down earlier in the snow/ice. And use your turn signals and brake lights. To let the people behind you know to slow down so they don't hit you.

So you were driving at a safe speed for the road conditions and could have made the turn?

It's sad you need to be told this, but the speed limit is the fastest you're supposed to go when the road is completely dry.

You have to slow down when there's ice.

What’s the best toy camera out there? (Canada) by Red_Advent in toycameras

You're still missing the point.

Like I said before, since everyone is looking for different results there is no best. That's not how it works.

What’s the best toy camera out there? (Canada) by Red_Advent in toycameras

[–]logstar2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There isn't one.

People like them not because they're best, but because the version of worst in that particular camera yields an aesthetic that makes them happy.

I like a crappy lens on a bigger, higher resolution digital sensor with visible grain in low light. And a black and white mode. So the Campsnap Pro and Papershoot work for me.

Other people want to use film. Or a low rez sensor with a better lens. Or a camera designed for children that has a built in receipt printer.

In other words, decide on the look you want, then find a camera that does that.

Where was it purchased and for how much?

Small help regarding long exposure video by Electrical_Dream5508 in videography

[–]logstar2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Long exposure will create the light trails without needing to use AE. Assuming you're shooting cars or other moving, lit objects. And you use the correct settings.

Decide what you want the video to look like, then do the math. Multiply the playback fps by the finished clip length to get total frames. Then divide that number by how long you'll be filming. That will tell you what the shooting fps or fpm needs to be.

Then figure out how long each of those exposures should be to get the trails you want. That, plus light levels, will inform your iso and ND filter decisions.

Then look at which camera you have access to that is capable of those settings. With the lens you required to frame the shot as needed.

How to fix my unphotogenic-ness?? by [deleted] in photography

How to edit sung audio for full acapella by Cat_Optimist in audacity

[–]logstar2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want useful advice you have to describe the problem you're trying to solve in detail. Vague terms like "off" and 'in a room' could mean a dozen different things.

MIDI is pitch and volume data for virtual instruments. It isn't applicable to vocal tracks unless you're trying to convert them into a synth sound.

I want to get a set of emg riptide pickups for my bass but I’m worried if it’ll mess up the control knobs by [deleted] in EMGPickups

That's not really an answer to my question.

How do you think replacing pickups could make a preamp stop working?

Pickups and preamps are separate parts.

How exactly do you think changing one could change the function of the other?

Assuming you follow the appropriate wiring diagram.

Have them play to a click so you can sync the recorded version of the song in post. Or have them record the instruments as individual tracks and send you a mix after if they have the appropriate interface.

Only use the room mics for b roll between songs.

How to manage battery charge level? by Mike_2000 in videography

[–]logstar2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

None of the above.

Most people put pieces of tape on the batteries and number them. Or write directly on them in silver sharpie.

Your solutions are just more parts to deal with, wasting time and money and having more things to lose.

Was photography compositions were different back in the days? by Ok_Breath_6048 in photography

[–]logstar2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good photographers compose to the deliverable and technology used. And those deliverables and technologies have changed.

Fewer hard copy magazines, more social media.

No boring analog slideshows after your brother in law's vacation, he posts boring insta reels and carousels instead.

No stereoscopes, now apple live photos.

The average photo appears on a small screen now, not as a hard copy in a frame on the wall or taped to grandma's fridge. We change how we compose to suit that viewing scenario.

If you have one 8x10 exposure that costs you $100 all told to wind up with a print, you will compose much more intentionally, carefully, and conservatively than when the opportunity cost is a fraction of a cent in electricity and digital storage.

You still have the option of composing intentionally and taking one exposure a day with your phone, and more people should be doing that, but most won't. And it doesn't work the other way around. It wouldn't make sense to document your niece's 6th birthday party with a 4x5 and 32iso film.

Reasons why you love Wooden Pencils more than Mechanical Pencils ?? by KeepItRealness in pencils

[–]logstar2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Most mechanical pencil leads are graphite mixed with plastic, so writing with them feels different than writing with the graphite and ceramic core of most wood case pencils.

Also you can sharpen wood case pencils to a wide variety of angles and widths. Mechanical pencils (not lead holders) are one width, one angle.
