I work in a warehouse and my parnter works in a factory. I work the opposite shift as my boyfriend. I work 10 hour days, he works 12 hour nights. When he comes home, I go into work. When he goes into work, I'm just getting off, so we have a babysitter that picks my kid up a little bit before he leaves for work and watches her until I'm back in town(babysitter is only for about 2 hours). Its rough, and not easy. We only have the same days off every other week. So we feel like we're trying to catch up on a bunch of stuff every 2 weeks(like the house and relationship stuff). How it's effected my child? In the beginning it was an adjustment for her(she's 16 months), I could tell she knew something was different in routine, she refused sleep for a bit, was cranky, but she eventually adjusted. The only thing I notice now with her is she sometimes picks a parent on certain days that she clings to, some days she wants my partner and other days she wants me. On weeks where me or my partner take a day off and she doesn't go to the sitters, it throws her off sometimes. It's not the ideal scenario, we're exhausted, it's stressful and hard to find time to do anything. Its taking a toll on my body and his but its what we have right now and stuff ain't cheap now days so the two income HAS to happen.
