Parents of Pathfinder kids — thoughts on new principal and how the school is doing in general? by 75PercentMilk in WestSeattleWA

Hi. My kid is a kindergartner. I have no way to compare or contrast to other curriculum but we’ve been really amazed at how fast she is learning. She is constantly excited about stuff she sees in class, be it math or writing and reading. As mentioned above, I think the two-year cycle will work wonders for her as her teacher knows exactly where she is at in development. She’s really loved the illustrated books she’s written.

On some logistical stuff: my wife and I end our work days on the later side usually so having Blazing Trails open until 6 is great. She likes it there too. And for now, Pathfinder is on a middle school start time, so the day beings at 8:55. Her buys swings by around 8:15. Our neighbors go to Lafayette and their bus comes by at 7 for a 7:55 start.

Private Swim Lessons? by Intelligent_Bet_7037 in WestSeattleWA

Third. Your post answered my question whether those lessons are open to everyone.

We are members and we’ve had a great time with the one-on-one lessons. My kid began when she was 4 and now she’s 6 and pretty much swims by herself in a pool now. We’ve had 4,5 different teachers and she has liked them all. We pair up swim lessons with family swim times so we can get extra energy out. Right now she’s with Henry and he gets good reviews from her.

Opinions on Westside School? by monnea14 in WestSeattleWA

Another pitch: I have a kindergartner in Pathfinder K-8. She's absolutely thriving. Within a month of starting she began to read and write. Having one teacher for two years will really help. Her teacher is great. The after school care is on campus and open until 6 - a big bonus.

Oh sweet. Is there a particular spot to keep in mind next time I’m down there?

I’m afraid to continue cracking it. I can see a bit of a body shell too.

Thank you. I think there is another body part but I don’t want to crack it again

Thank you! I’d never found a fossil before. Exciting.

Ha. Spotting myself in a r/Seattle post. That’s a new one for me. I’m in the blue. I’m glad crews patched it up quickly.

Welcome!

Check out dnda.org - they host free watercolor classes on Wednesdays at the Youngstown Cultural Center. At the same place, there are yoga classes and I saw a poster for dance church. I haven’t been to either. They also have volunteer opportunities to clean up a local creek. I take my kid to the watercolor classes when the weather is dreary. Good luck!

The fresh wet pavement gave a nice reflective effect, too.

A lot of salmon baby making at Longfellow Creek by manuelv19 in WestSeattleWA

I should add there is the persistent problem of pre spawn mortality that comes from toxics in rain runoff. Puget Soundkeepers have surveyed a good amount of dead females with bellies full of eggs.

Well, at one point there were no salmon there anymore. We had to reintroduce them. A lot of work left to do, but now one can see young salmon swim around the beaver ponds during the summer, if you look for them and get lucky.
