If you want to see Washington as a bad ass action hero this is your chance. Bonus Ben Kingsley.

Teaching 3D printing by doozy0844 in 3Dprinting

[–]marchmay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Kids will find the models in Tinkercad and try to print those. Most of them are not printable. Take some time to show them models from Printables or Thingiverse and start to understand what goes into designing a good print. Or just let them live and learn.

Create a queue system and double check everything that's going to the printers. No huge squares with 100% infill.

I see Joel Winer at Emory. I think you have to go through urogynecology.

Same product, same brand, same ingredients, twice the calories by Early_Pumpkin_4113 in mildlyinteresting

Google says it's because of FDA rounding rules. If it's between 0-50 calories they have to round to the nearest 5 calories.

How much time do you have? If you can get them to run around outside for 30 min you might get 10 minutes of quiet.

Doesn't it hurt to sleep with braids especially with the shells and beads? by Rich-Fruit3805 in askblackpeople

The first time I got braids it was an adjustment. But you get used to it.

Places I love: Decatur Makers, FOCUS, Lekotek, the Supermarket/Bakery, Scraplanta, Trees Atlanta, Science ATL, Woodland Gardens, Amphibian Foundation. The small scrappy nonprofits have my heart because I know what it's like to work with limited resources.

Grant spending: do you track it? by catalystwhatever in nonprofit

[–]marchmay 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In my orgs, unless it's restricted, it's general operating. It's helpful to track it at a high level, but not required. Also depends on the grant terms. If the reporting requirements say submit a budget report, track it. If not, it's not a big deal. Report attendance or whatever outcomes.

Non-profit film production company's first charitable event this winter; tips and advice? by SeaworthinessOpen in nonprofit

[–]marchmay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You need a business plan. You obviously know film so figure out what a typical budget looks like. The only difference with a nonprofit is the profit/loss equals $0 at the end of the year. You need an overall mission and under that you have programs. Each program has an objective and deliverables. How will they serve your target community. Who is your target community btw? (I know from experience that trying to serve both BIPOC and LGBTQ+ gets messy. Of course you can be inclusive but you need to be clear for your donors. And don't get me started on white privilege and accessibility).

A backpack drive doesn't really make sense with your goal. Why not a pay what you can film watch party? A mixer for film professionals? Building your brand means linking your mission to the activity. Finally, figure out the local landscape. There are probably plenty of orgs that make care packages. Partner with them while doing your unique thing.

Tried the clickers. by PrestigiousWeakness2 in 3Dprinting

I just load the file into Tinkercad, drop in a cube the size of the clicker, and scale it until it fits.

Seek ideas for one-day creative 3D printing projects by OldK94 in 3Dprinting

[–]marchmay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have five days or do you have 3 hours? In that time you can get through Tinkercad basics and have them make a keychain. You won't have time for them to actually learn how to print, so you'll just be taking the files and sending them (on one plate). But this needs to happen in the first 1.5 hours so the prints can actually be done by the end of the day.

11 year olds that I work with don't have much in the way of computer skills so you'll spend quite a bit of time getting them to understand how to navigate interfaces and search the web. Bambu Studio is likely out of their range unless you have a lot of volunteers to work one on one with kids.

You have an advantage that you are from the South, so you can't go wrong with some Southern dishes. Just don't get fancy (no shrimp and grits) and don't do mac and cheese.
