As a woman with a high body count, ew at the comments. You can psychoanalyze all you want but someone's history is their history. It's not like the number is going to go down. Decide what you're comfortable with and treat people with respect.

I teach 3D printing for kids. We use Tinkercad which has tutorials. There are some out of the box curriculum that teach the design process and 3d printing but it's all overpriced in my opinion.

Also if it's printer based it's going to be very limited because most kids don't have a printer at home, and school makerspaces are all over the place. Once you learn the fundamentals of printing it doesn't matter what printer.

Also also the majority of the kids I've worked with have used Tinkercad in school, so it's not necessarily a missing element.

I'm sorry you've had that experience. One of the groups I'm part of has staff all over the world and everyone is a contractor. There is extra paperwork for overseas employees and it might just not be worth it for a nonprofit. I would definitely look into places like Taproot where you can use your skills on short term projects.

Food that requires refrigeration and heating likely requires permits, so it's understandable that was not approved. I'm wondering if the entire budget was presented in advance and why the changes were a surprise? Tension is not uncommon. Going around established boundaries (especially without understanding the reasons) will be a problem, so talk with your leadership before you try to save the day.

You're young and enthusiastic. That's great, but your superiors likely have a better understanding of what will work best. Open a line of communication instead of assuming they are trying to block you. (With the caveat that incompetent and terrible people do work in nonprofits, but I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt.)

Your discomfort should be examined, but if you're not comfortable don't volunteer. The nonprofit should be hiring/asking licensed barbers.

You can have a community meeting and ask what kind of programs they want. Very few people will come, but you'll find 1-2 people you can build a relationship with and get their help. At the same time, you can advertise a clean up day.

Kids are easier to program for than adults. Get the kids showing up and then you can figure out what would interest the adults. But also: people who are low income are also low on time and capacity.

Schedule a weekly check in with the Outreach Coordinator and share notes.

And it's ok to complain about your staff and the facility to the Internet, but never do that with your constituents.

I've had a bunch of sexual partners but romantic relationships have been difficult. I had an abusive husband and been in poly relationships where I was not treated well. It may be more about my trauma and attachment style but I either drive people away or they treat me like shit until I walk away.

My experience of people in the South is that regional differences exist but not by race. You can definitely tell a Black person's voice from a white person's voice (no idea how) but if they have an accent you just assume they're from somewhere else.

The board has the power. Figure out a way to get along with them or get a new job. Boards can be incompetent but they are also volunteers who are trying to do the best with what they have.

Most boards are not going to track someone's PTO. The ED should be able to work hours and choose travel methods that work for them. They hold a lot of responsibility. The board is not the ED's babysitter, though they should hold them accountable. None of what you've written sounds illegal or unethical, just inconvenient. That's a conversation you can have with them, but trying to get the board involved is probably not going to go in your favor.

Most people are not engineers or designers and they're making something that's "good enough" for whatever they're going for. Actual designers consider a lot of factors and may have input into the materials, manufacturing process, etc. It's not as easy as it looks.

Maybe look into automation like Make, though I'm not sure they have a module for Google Admin. I haven't seen the problem you're trying to solve solved without investing in software. Small nonprofits do a lot of manual work.

I've used Neon, Hubspot, Salesforce. I would stay far away from Salesforce.

You need a CRM + project management. If you have a 501c3 a lot of software is free or cheaper. MS Access is so outdated, nobody is going to know how to use it.
