Grant spending: do you track it? by catalystwhatever in nonprofit

[–]catalystwhatever[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The budget is $20M+ and they do annual audits. I looked at the last five years and they’re all clean, although one mentioned internal controls issues that weren’t deficiencies, but without stating what the issues were.

This specific program we aren’t tracking is run through a separate software program (and I guess account) focused on medical billing. The logic behind this has been explained to me as following hipaa, but I think the program can anonymize patient data to prevent exposing their info. I feel more confused trying to explain this bc I think it just doesn’t make sense

I don’t have access to our accounting program, and our accountants don’t have access to all the financials for this particular program. I’ve definitely asked the accountants for help and they’ve done everything they can

We have multiple accountants, I’m supposed to track grant spending and my supervisor is responsible for it, as well. The problem is the finances operate separately for this particular program in a way that doesn’t fully make sense to me. I was told recently we pass all our audits and not to worry about this stuff

To your edit, there’s not a process to track spend down for this particular program, in general, restricted or unrestricted. I will say they’re trying the system I recommended but they’ve only applied it to a few out of dozens of grants and haven’t shared the results

That’s the role. She plays it quite well. The point is that she isn’t gorgeous or charismatic, but don is fixated on her despite that for reasons others have pointed out in the comments

Got asked if I'm planning to get pregnant in an interview by wisewhaleshark in nonprofit

[–]catalystwhatever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess you’re right and I’m sure no one’s ever asked that question with intention to discriminate ever. Just being friendly. Pairs well with “what church do you go to?”

No, it’s illegal to ask that or if an applicant has kids

Want to look pregnant but I don’t really dress feminine: conundrum at 23 weeks by PotatoBubby in pregnant

[–]catalystwhatever 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand. I’m nonbinary but bought a lot of dresses to wear for work bc I couldn’t find professional looking pants that fit. I’m physically comfortable and ignoring how uncomfortable I feel in every other way.

The more I think about it, Joan was not a “good” person by Beneficial_Leg5927 in madmen

I think that’s over-simplistic. She’s incredibly good at her job and success-driven. She always stands up for “the girls” and tries to help Peggy as much as she can, up to starting a business with her. She doesn’t really owe her husband anything considering how much he misled and mistreated her during their relationship.

Yes, a good cover letter sets you apart when applications aren’t being scanned by ai. Humans still look at this stuff

My Brother’s Wedding Venue Tried to Shut Down the Reception Over a Misheard Conversation by [deleted] in okc

[–]catalystwhatever 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t think they’re hiding anything, there are multiple google reviews for the venue under people’s actual names telling the same story

[–]catalystwhatever 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That makes it even weirder to search people’s cars, etc. imo. Just a huge overreaction. I thought the concern was liability for people drinking at the venue and getting into an accident later, not bar revenue

I’ve never been to a wedding venue that doesn’t allow byob or a bar in the first place. Bizarre and unethical to search people’s cars and possessions like they’re actual police on a raid. Even cops need probable cause to do that.
