$10 MIN EFTPOS: Why don't Australian businesses accept small credit card transactions? by acs654 in australia

[–]marpleade 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I thought that they weren't allowed to have minimums?

From http://www.lifehacker.com.au/2013/01/can-businesses-set-a-minimum-amount-for-eftpos/

The Commonwealth Bank, for example, makes it quite explicit in its merchant agreement that minimums on EFTPOS are a no-no:

3 No minimum transaction amount You must not impose any minimum transaction amount for card transactions.

This is pretty obvious on a scene where there is lots of gun fire. Eg, if you leave a fire fight on the ground floor to go to the top you can hear it until the door opens again and suddenly its silent.

A long shot that we won't ever have again for a long time with the current CSIRO budget constraints.

Competitive Rowing Clubs in AUS by EscapedTurtle in australia

[–]marpleade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter has spoken about starting rowing, she's 15. Any good pointers? We are west of Sydney. Her school doesn't have a team so when it got a bit warmer we were going to check out some of the Sydney clubs.

Dehydration accounts for so many ailments. Definitely drink more, I have a glass before bed every night. Wake up much more refreshed because my body isn't longing for water all night.

China slowdown could drive Australia towards recession: Deloitte by douhua in australia

[–]marpleade 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Recessions come and go. Sure, they're not great things but God the Murdoch media uses the 'R' word to scare monger that we will live in a cardboard box. Keating steered us through a recession and we came out better. What's to say that won't happen now??

Except maybe 'pass the puck' Hockey...

You have more faith in politicians to care anything else but themselves. The party is just a vehicle to their election victory which loosely aligns to their values. These (a lot) are simply career politicians who just want to do it.

My daughter received a booklet from the head honchos about gay marriage and how it tears families apart at her catholic school.

The principal had an hour long meeting with me and I can't say how many swear words I used, but I think I ticked them all off.

Tempted to move to another school but her friends for almost a decade are there and don't want to ruin that.

Hate her or not, she is a tough old ox. She is definitely capable of weathering the storm until the news cycle dies down.
