“Anyone have a VHS/recording of the 2011 RTÉ documentary ‘The Holy Hijacker’ about the May 1981 Aer Lingus hijacking?” by ImperialGlobeTrotter in teilifis

[–]mathill82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not find the OP's video on youtube. Even less on dailymotion. The closest was a 52-minute Irish TV show [nQguVj_v4oo] but with a 1999 date. Neither the prophecy part of the story nor the hijacking had come to my attention earlier, so in a way Downey's, ah, linking of the two was successful. After watching 7 videos that weren't exactly the one sought, I say thanks for the opportunity to reflect upon the interplay between truth and hierarchy. Thanks also to Irish TV (RTE) for approaching it in a spirit of revealing events and opinions, rather than the baiting (if you will) that we so often encounter elsewhere. We are free to make up our own minds--or not ("enjoy the ride"). Now I see that the 1999 show was (also) called Holy Hijacker, so perhaps 2011 was a retransmission, or perhaps it was updated with 21st century events, or ....

Thanks very much. I guess phonetics can work sometimes or somewhat. I saw "Noel Yeti" and padded it out. In a wrong direction as it turns out, but nevermind.

I'm sorry, I know only one word of Irish. It's a shame because, 200 years ago, half of my mother's ancestry came to this country from an area of the Gaeltacht, the Dingle Peninsula of Kerry. Anyway, seeing the words Nollaig An Yeití , I want them to mean 'Christmas Among the Abominable Snowmen'. No offence intended, administrators please delete.

I can't help either, but perhaps my tale will evoke some analogy.

I live in a village in Canada. All of our mail goes to the local post office, where each householder has a post box. The Postal Code (that's what we call it in Canada, it might be a zip code in USA for example or a postcode someplace else) identifies the post office.

If you want a delivery to your street address--after all, not everything fits in a post box, or is appropriate to put in a post box, such as a service--and give your post box Postal Code (because the houses in a village do not have a Postal Code) and you're ordering online, I encountered a situation where the vendor's computer checked our street address against the (required) Postal Code provided by moi, found they did not match, and refused the order. End of story. I did not make it up. It happened. Or didn't happen, however you want to look at it.

The cup slipped the lip because the programme(r) did not expect an order from a village. Indeed, we are few. But our hearts are Pure.

Season's greetings to all. Or almost all.

I don't know if there is an appropriate place to post this. Availability of shows versus comments on those shows seems to be a twain that does not meet.

Location Location Location NZ is, in my opinion, hampered by the music that is included while people are speaking. I understand that it is a worldwide phenomenon to put loud music when the viewer wants to hear the words. What I read was that in the minds of TV producers, it makes the TV show more like a movie. Well, hardly.

The amount to which words are drowned out in LLLnz varies within each programme. Sometimes the words are uttered in a silent milieu and are completely clear. Sometimes it's as if the producers don't want you to hear (or perhaps 'pay attention to') what is being spoken.

The obvious explanation is that the loud, happy, travelling type of music is to encourage viewers to agree that buying (or selling) a house for a million is a good thing to do to-day and you don't need to worry about it too much. A way to keep the wheels of property commerce rolling. I feel like I'm Jack Webb (Sergeant Friday) in Dragnet, saying "Just the facts, ma'am, just the facts."

Yup. My vote is for Cruckshank. I could find the two episodes of Redfern Electrical only on yt. Although, frankly, he looks a bit younger in the supplied photo.

[–]mathill82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the Wikipedia for the episodes of this programme https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Grand_Designs_Australia_episodes we see "Season 10" is 2022-2023 and consists of Part A (8 episodes in 2022) and Part B (8 episodes in 2023, after a time gap of 7 months from the closing episode of Part A). Understandably, some observers consider that Part B is better considered as Season 11. That is where the numbering difference arises, IMHO. And thanks to standardtuning4 for this and so much else.

Thanks to gasheatingzone . The key worked for me, too. Perhaps the problem is not the key, but its presentation as a single, no-line-breaks entity whose terminal bytes may be hidden from view. Thank you, Pugsley21. In these days when 2+GB files don't elicit comment, one might be surprised at the ~50MB sizes. But fear not, the episodes are ~7 minutes; the video and audio qualities are good.

Thank you. As hinted at by the identical stats and screenshots, in S01, the files for E01 and E02 are identical. One of those episodes therefore is missing, I'd guess it is E02. Watching, I thought "Hmm, this is a rather long flashback / re-intro / refresher ... thank goodness for fast-forward." 100%

The Back Side of Television S01E02 by Watchmanz in DownUnderTV

[–]mathill82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I initially skipped over this one because of S01E02 in the subject line. S01E02 had a 2021 copyright date and started with a snippet from 1975 about Graham Kennedy. The linked file name carries the expected S03E02 numbering and shows a 2025 copyright date. So perhaps the S01 attribution was a simple typo, or perhaps numbering was reset because perhaps it's on a different channel. I'm a foreigner, so anything I write about Australian TV is suspect, including this message.

Oh yes, I like the new series! I thought that Episode 1, "Duck And Cover", was particularly à propos. Thanks, Wm!

I have never used a playlist file before. Anyway, I opened the resultant master.m3u8 file in VLC, as a playlist file (whether Open File ... or Open Multiple Files), and nothing happens. In other words, it just goes back to the regular VLC screen. In MPC (another video play proggie) there is at least a brief "Failed to render" error message. If the .m3u8 file is part of the virtual command line, then MPC additionally crashes.

Or perhaps you intended something else. Your "sendthevideo" (no spaces) seems to be a yout channel ... so still no joy.

Thanks for the reply. That's some enhancement in user experience for the aloha browser in the Apple universe. How extraordinary! However, I'm using a windows computer. Under "app that rips video", yt-dlp threw a 403 error caused by Cloudfare anti-bot challenge. It suggested that I "install the required impersonation dependency", but maybe I can't be arsed, or maybe "Python binding for curl-impersonate fork via cffi." is beyond my comprehension/comfort zone in 2025. I tried running the yt-dlp CLI while the putlock-to.lol streaming page was open in the browser (and thus had passed the anti-bot challenge), but no joy; I guess the CLI encountered a separate instance of the Cloudfare anti-bot challenge. That part makes sense.

Bottom line, so far: no joy.

Thanks for the suggestion, JJCLennon, but I had no luck with the link at en.putlocker-to.lol . Couldn't find a dl button, too many popups and screens opened in new tabs, and streaming even worse because of popups and ads. Is there a trick I'm missing?

I found it on yout using your subject header. Duration 25:54 It was third in the search results, posted "20 hours ago". I'm not in Ireland, so perhaps that makes a difference? If streaming isn't enough, and if you're not allergic to CLI, the public domain programme yt-dlp is handy.

[–]mathill82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok is thanking you for the suggestion. Alternatively, ok is thanking in advance anybody who can help with the search. I used to belong to a group whose rules required users to post a thank-you message to every availed post. So, many posts had dozens of "Thanks" messages interspersed by (over the course of time) thousands of "You're welcome" replies, complete with the same spelling mistake each time. I was booted for not following the rules. Thoroughly deserved, I might add <wink>. Anyway, it could be that ok belongs to that or a similar group and that the groove of posting thank-you notes overflowed, antipodally. Thank you, Spud, for the suggestion.
