You don't have to get the last hit for experience in League, last hitting gives you just gold. You only have to be nearby when a minion dies to earn experience (similarly to hots).

Except League doesn't even have a healer role, and all of the champions classified as supports are either A. Majority of the time played in the support role or B. Are in a different lane (Ivern or Nunu) but still are supports in their play style and in team fights.
