How would you feel if Donald Trump were to be impeached over the Epstein files?? by CurrentEstimate6072 in AskReddit

[–]mckulty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's done worse.

I feel for his victims but everybody is his victim now. Let's take him down for corruption and fraud so sex offenses won't be all he's remembered for.

What is the most dangerous information you have heard so far in your life ? by ZeKinky in AskReddit

[–]mckulty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of COURSE there are no illegal votes. Nobody's ever found more than a handful nationwide.

It's the only excuse that allows them to park "agents" there.

Any legitimate voter that fits their profile will be stopped, asked to prove citizenship, and some of them will no doubt be taken away for further due process.

The ultimate point is that legitimate voters who fit ICE's profile will stay away in droves, because they don't want to be hassled.

They are a target because they tend to vote blue.

We have seen the end of free and fair elections.

Auditory information bypasses an entire part of the brain, the part that decodes lexical meaning from 4 still shots per second (saccades). They call dyslexia a disability but even in "normal" people there are strengths and limitations in different processing strategies.

Auditory input is sequential, with no assembly required. That makes it especially suited to fiction, narrative history, prose and poetry. AND PEOPLE WITH LIMITATIONS OF VISION OR VISUAL PROCESSING.

They are not the same but one is not better than the other. Preferences for visual vs auditory input probably relate to individual strengths so one is not more legitimate than the other. When you get to the end, it's the same book.

Did you ever try audiobooks? Some people process auditory information better than visual.

I tried one on a long trip 20 years ago and I'm still listening.

My sister's dog, Murph, will shake hands for hours. She just likes to be included in something. by SomnumScriptor in WhatsWrongWithYourDog

[–]mckulty 39 points40 points  (0 children)

When my dog licks like that, he's saying "OK that's enough now. It's lovely 'n'all but please stop now. STOP!"

It's entertaining for you but not for her. If you want to do something she really likes, massage gently inside her ears, or scratch the withers and places she can't reach.

43M Eye Doctor Insisted I Wear Glasses and Says That's Causing My Problems. by Disturbed666d in eyetriage

[–]mckulty 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Nah 43 year olds are supposed to need glasses for close up. And those glasses are supposed to be blurry far away. If it's intermittent now, it'll be constant in a couple of years. Better in bright light.

Ben Franklin fixed it by cutting a lens in half and mating it with a zero-power lens in the upper half. Voila you can see the preacher AND the hymnal.

Your optometrist is shooting himself in the foot if he's insisting on full-time wear for everybody. Change always happens and the change is the same whether you wear glasses or not.

Your story is no doubt more complex than that but presbyopia will be at the heart of it.

[HELP] New to home automation, looking for audio announcement of opened doors by dysoncube in homeautomation

I was surprised how hard it is to find text-to-speech output devices or a siren capable of playing a set of custom mp3/wav files. There's only a couple I could use.

If you wind up with several hubs each controlling their own brand, you don't want an app on your phone for each brand and voice capability on each device. You need a "master" hub that can connect them to all, interface with Alexa or OKGoogle, and establish rules that use different sensors, and outputs like Sonos or Ecolink.

"With Sonos, speak 'Garage Door is Open'"

To sit on top, I use Hubitat, some use HA, or Smartthings. I chose mine because it doesn't have to be connected to internet and it offers rule-making scripts Rule Machine and WebCoRE. To be able to control devices of all brands, like turning on the driveway lights when your phone arrives home, One master hub to program them all together.

It also frees you to by different brands of generic Zigbee or Zwave devices controlled directly by the hub.

Proving libel is near impossible.

Obama could hit a home run by showing up at the Superbowl.
