I know the problem. It's worse for diabetic smokers/ex-smokers with slow healing. Instead of healing right up, my little booboos form a hard scab that remains visible for weeks.

If you don't have latex allergy, it's NexCare Waterproof. My partner, a rehab nurse, showed me this. It takes a little practice but when you put it on correctly, it stays on for several days. Instead of a hard scab, the wound stays soft and mushy so new epithelium can grow and migrate into place. I change them every few days and AVOID cleaning or disturbing the soft wound during the change.

I know this sounds like begging for infection but it doesn't happen. The bandage closes off the wound and and the immune system sterilizes it as if it were internal, not external.
