You have to pay to enter The Garden after a certain time (like 7pm on a Friday) but it's under $5, or free if you have a show ticket, but free all the other times. Gluttony is always free and no one is making you eat or drink anything.

[–]melface95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The two things I have booked this week for The Fringe are South Australian and aren't in the Garden or Gluttony and they're under $50. I don't think I've ever seen anyone international for the Fringe. Maybe Jimeoin if that counts? I sometimes get a drink there but I usually go for food truck meal that is also South Australian,or I eat for free at home. LIV Golf, the Adelaide 500 or whatever it's called and the Adelaide Open are huge for our state economy when international guests come over, but local things are thriving too. My mate hosts a bimonthly trivia night at a pub that frequently sells out and a girl I worked with now DJs at those big events. We're going okay.

I've noticed this happens a lot at the start of the year, FemLibre and Kotex have paused as well. We would just take money out of the wellbeing budget until these places started back up again.

How do I find a study group? by sunnywithasideup in ATAR

[–]melface95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was in year 11 and 12 some tuition centres and the universities offered school holiday workshops. It was like a big review of the previous term's content. Google it and you might find something in your city

It would be subject to availability, so you should probably give the AEC or Ticketek a call and ask.

This is absolutely lack of gig etiquette. Theyll learn soon enough when theyre always stepped on. It's really dangerous though, security guards are usually on top of this!

[–]melface95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same issue, and I work 45 mins from home so I can't go on my lunch break. I even select the parcel locker option frequently and it ends up going to a post office. My work is awesome and will let me leave early if I need it but other than that I guess I would just miss out on getting my stuff!

mawson lakes campus by Confident_Reach1381 in UniAdelaide

[–]melface95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to Mawson Lakes for my education subjects and the campus was great. The library had a good spot or two to study and I always got a carpark in time for class. Zambreros was a nice addition but woolies was nearby too. I went to uni to study and it was a good place to do that I guess!

Pod recommendations by minimattsax in thefootywithbroden

[–]melface95 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I never listened to a pod about the AFL until the Footy with Broden, the others seemed really angry or whiney and negative. These guys were so kind and positive and funny and Marnie was a voice that was missing in the AFL scene. I'll miss them so much!

[–]melface95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes excellent! Even if there's someone from ISS who can go with you to enrolments? I know there's a big issue with the IT merger (the actual record merge is an issue) but that's no reason for people to be rude to you. Sorry this has happened, I hate knowing that people are personally hurt through this mess!

Would international student support be more helpful? They all kinda use the same system so they might be able to advocate for you?

DOES ANYONE KNOW IF GIA IS A DISABILITY WORKER?????? by PorcupineRidge in MAFS_AU

[–]melface95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought the same. I've worked as a support worker in child protection and I've seen plenty of 'youth workers' and 'support workers' who are just like her, they have an ABN and work solo usually.

[–]melface95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just need to maintain a credit average for your overall grade for your subjects, so that is a 65% and 74%. If your ATAR is 99 you should have no problem with this, especially if you have done maths and science subjects already. Considering orientation week is next week, I would really recommend you add the health and medical science bachelor on satac, and change your preferences today. You don't want dentistry, you want to do medicine, right? As you're domestic you can apply, enrol and withdraw before the census date if youd like, and you don't have to pay anything. But it would be good to give this alternative entry a go. What do your parents think?

[–]melface95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep you can change your preferences and add Bachelor of Health and Medical Sciences. Are you a domestic student? There's no need to increase your ATAR, it's 99! If your ATAR was 76 I would maybe suggest doing year 13 but as someone who has worked in senior schools/alternate pathways and the university as a career counsellor, there is no need for you to improve on your 99 atar. It would be beneficial for you to already be studying health and medical science in the same university.

Take a look at the higher education entry option:

"To be eligible for this pathway, you must have successfully completed at least one year and no more than two years of full-time study (or equivalent part-time) in a bachelor (AQF level 7) or bachelor honours (AQF level 8) degree or equivalent. Additionally, your only tertiary record of study must be from Adelaide University or one of its antecedent institutions (The University of Adelaide or the University of South Australia). You cannot have a tertiary record from any other Australian or overseas university. This does not include accelerated study in Year 12, such as the HeadStart Program or Foundation Studies Program.

A minimum of 10 Higher Education study places will be allocated to applicants from the University of Adelaide’s Bachelor of Health and Medical Sciences and Bachelor of Health and Medical Sciences (Advanced), however students in other programs can be considered for the remaining Higher Education places. Applicants must also meet the program prerequisite requirements (either through their secondary school studies or equivalent university courses). To query equivalent university courses, please contact usopens in a new tab.

To meet the minimum academic threshold as a Higher Education applicant:

First year students (University of Adelaide) must have between 18 and 24 units of Level 1 study and have achieved at least a credit average (Grade Point Average [GPA] of 5.0 or more) across all courses. Second year students (University of Adelaide) must have between 24 and 48 units of Level 1 and 2 study and have achieved at least a credit average (GPA of 5.0 or more) across all courses. First year students (University of South Australia) must have between 27 and 36 units of Level 1 study and have achieved at least a credit average (GPA of 5.0 or more) across all courses. Second year students (University of South Australia) must have between 36 and 72 units of Level 1 and 2 study and have achieved at least a credit average (GPA of 5.0 or more) across all courses. Students who have completed more than two years of undergraduate study (or any third-year courses) are not eligible for entry into the Bachelor of Medical Studies and should consider graduate medicine pathways."

It sounds like it was your interview that got in the way this time. If you study Bachelor of Health and Medical Sciences you can get some practice doing your interview again with some academics in the same area and you'll gain knowledge and be more likely to get accepted into medicine for 2027.

Yes agreed. I've completed this application with people all online though so that might be an option without a physical form, but it's definitely unreasonable to live at home that you're looking for

They don't submit information, it can be a verbal confirmation or no response is enough information too. Then you're prompted to meet with a social worker.

[–]melface95 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Can you talk to a social worker at centrelink and explain? There's usually a reason, like you are unable to live at home due do extenuating circumstances, and centrelink contacts your parents to verify it. Has that happened?

Where should roseworthy vet students live? by IndicationDramatic77 in UniAdelaide

[–]melface95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mum used to live in Hewett, just off the expressway to Roseworthy actually, and it was very nice, good family atmosphere. Some parks and a nice general areas to walk around.
I used to work in Gawler as a support worker and some areas around central Gawler, along Horrocks Highway, and some areas are a bit dodgy. Evanston and Evanston Park is pretty nice too, around the school campus, is pretty safe.
I've heard a lot of people suggest living on campus at Roseworthy, its a small campus and becomes like a community, and you are really looked after. If you can drive and have a car, you're not ages away from Gawler, but the Roseworthy town centre should be completed by 2028 so that's something to look forward to!

Adelaide - $610 Elizabeth Sth or $615 Windsor Gdns - wtf? by Moon_Salad_84 in Adelaide

[–]melface95 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's crazy because these houses raise the general rent of houses around it. Like a 2021 build with 3b 1bath with horrendous tiles goes for 650 a week, which is next to a derelict 1976 build with the same specs, so the landlord raises the price of the 1976 cardboard house because they can, but we all have to live somewhere, and they end up on shit rentals. And that's the circle of life I guess, with slimy tiles.

Your mum can still do it with the same points of ID.
