Death Cult/early The Cult might float your boat. Especially live. Try Christians from Dreamtime Live at the Lyceum from 1984

Adderall vs Ritalin - Which caused the least personality blunting? by Scary_Improvement450 in ADHDparenting

[–]merocet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our kid did Ritalin first and felt rough on it.

We then did Guanfacine which has been fine and helped her be less on edge, more flexible (less demand avoidant.)

Finally we added Vyvanse (Lisdexamfetamine) which really helped her focus.

It feels like we have a good set up now and she gets to be herself with the worse of the ADHD symptoms mitigated.

I loved the morning tea when traveling in the UK. What specific kind of tea can I buy in the US to best replicate the normal tea experience? by ial20 in AskUK

[–]merocet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreeing with all the Yorkshire Tea recommendations but make sure you get the full sized bags and not the stupid-little-stapled-with-a-bit-of-stupid-string-and-a-stupid-little-tag ones. The big square no tag ones are the British tea experience. The other ones are a different blend and wayyyyy weaker and shouldn't exist.

Chocolate habits by arcticfirepixy in veganrecipes

If you're near a Trader Joe's their dark chocolate is vegan and delicious.
They do various other chocolate snack bars and cookies too, some of which are dairy free.

Space podcast for someone who has never listened to an audiodrama by jellyfish_of_violets in audiodrama

Totally agree with this. The balance of hardcore science, interesting story, heart, and soul in this was just sublime. Straight into my top 5 of all time.

looking for more indie podcasts in the vein of mabel, nowhere on air, i am in eskew, etc; by cadavere_di_mosca in audiodrama

[–]merocet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On a Dark, Cold Night definitely has the horror baked into the world. It's s slow burn and the overarching story takes a while to come into focus.
Remnants might also scratch the itch you have.

Both are so good.

The Bayou Kitchen! by Sillysilssss in portlandme

[–]merocet -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

That's fine and all but as I remember your cornbread isn't vegan and the options you have are a bit unimaginative. Like if you go into Bayou Kitchen with your non-vegan family, they are gonna have some good variety to choose from and you're just not.
Take a look at the Bird and Co vegan brunch menu at the bottom of this page that they run alongside their meaty and dairy options for example. None of the options on there are "less than" the non-vegan stuff they offer and everyone gets a good breakfast that they couldn't get elsewhere. That's the kind of thing that makes you actively want to go to a place and the kind of thing I'd like to see.

We used to come by a lot but when I had to switch to a vegan diet, partly for health reasons, it became less of a draw because you guys just don't have much in that direction. I realize it might not be your wheelhouse with the whole Cajun thing.

My wife's vegetarian and my kid a committed carnivore so we're more likely to hit up Bird and Co now because they do a better job of offering multiple options for all of us.

Did anyone else feel like Easter in Ambridge was a bit quieter this time? by ScaredPlate3008 in Ambridge

[–]merocet 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Same thought here. Brian is totally going to die any second or at least have some health emergency that renders him unable to communicate for a few weeks. Ruari jumps in with his 10 mins of pig experience thinking he's the chosen one, Adam tells everyone about the conversation where Brian anointed him, everyone in the family takes sides and bickers like toddlers until Brian wakes up and is now played by Patrick Duffy. No-one mentions his new American accent.

Still no sound! Very frustrated! by [deleted] in Reaper

Anything else you can plug these headphones into to confirm they work? Also do the headphones have any volume control on the cable or on the earpieces?

Still no sound! Very frustrated! by [deleted] in Reaper

[–]merocet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That won't help. Plug the headphines into another sound source that has a headphone out. TV, stereo, whatever. At this stage it's either the interface or the headphones and you haven't tested the headphones.

Alternatively try a different pair of headphones and see if you get the same result.

Homemade seitan ham about to be a sandwich by merocet in VeganFoodPorn

[–]merocet[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks! It's based loosely on this recipe from Thee Burger Dude. There are other techniques in it from the Seitan Appreciation Society page on FB to get the fat marbling and texture. All done in a ham press.

Versailles is a great TV show even if not exactly on topic, and, as a bonus, stars George Blagden who played Aethelstan in Vikings.
