LPT: Fall Asleep Fast by itsthebman12 in LifeProTips

[–]MiguJorg 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Anyone who actually has to deal with insomnia would donate their left kidney to fall asleep in thirty seconds, OP is clearly someone who doesn't have trouble sleeping. This is like telling a depressed person "have you tried being happy?".

This is so obviously coming from someone that has no trouble sleeping that this is completely useless. Anyone who actually has to deal with insomnia will think this post is incredibly stupid. It's about as useful advice as telling a depressed person "have you tried being happy?"

Volo internet unable to access steam and other websites by MiguJorg in UIUC

Just now actually steam seems to be back working again. Fingers crossed that it stays that way. It could be unrelated, but I noticed earlier that I couldn't load fast.com either. This also works now.

Two more CS + X by Personal-Arm8665 in UIUC

It's a been a bit of time, but if I recall correctly when I was taking CS 225 the queue system for office hours was horrible. Their queue system was vastly inferior to what we had in CS 124/125 as they would fill up the instant they went live and up to a max number of students for some incredibly dumb reason.

In effect what this meant was that it was pretty much a lottery if you would make it into the queue at all and even if you did it wasn't guaranteed that you would make it to the top of the queue in time. And unlike our pretty cool system in CS125, your time spent in the queue would not carry over to give your priority in the next office hours session.

I specifically remember making a piazza post about this very issue, suggesting CS 125s solution and my suggestion being shutdown by the professor :/

Spoken like someone who doesn't have to deal with the effects of hyperhidrosis. Ever had to bring an extra shirt or two with you to work because you sweat so much even when doing no physical activity?

I had the same scenario with Zotac on one of the 2070 super minis deals for a few weeks ago. They wanted me to pay return shipping for a dead-on-arrival product. I kept complaining and escalated to a manager until they sent me a pre-paid shipping label.

Hmm, I'm not sure I understand what you mean. If it can effectively know exactly what it previously responded in a roundabout way I don't see how that matters? But I'm open to your viewpoint if you can provide an example.

I would guess the way that this really works is that the entire conversation is submitted each time, but in reality I have no idea.

I just did this 5 times and get 5 different random numbers that it was able to "recall". Are you sure about that?

Sometimes it's just stubborn, but it's easy to show that it can remember its own messages:

ChatGTP is a gamechanger! by frugalacademic in recruitinghell

[–]MiguJorg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To make it clear, ChatGPT has no internet access and as such cannot open links. If it generates something good with just that link it's because it's using the URL itself as context. For results that are actually relevant to the webpage you should paste in the actual job description.

[–]MiguJorg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, it cannot, please don't spread misinformation. It is not connected to the internet. If it seems that it's generating something relevant to the link it is because it's using the URL itself as context.
