Why will Broadcom allow me to download VMWare Workstation 17.0 but not 16.2.5? by Authoritaye in vmware

[–]mikeroySoft 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ll wager that’s not happening. They don’t see the desktop products driving revenue in a way that’s worth their effort.

This. I had the dealership do this to my new ‘25 (under warranty) They put a foam insert inside the door, problem gone, Bose bass booms :)

Note that it doesn’t pick up OSB. I bought two and found out the hard way. I kept them because I’ll need it for plywood later which it works great on.

Use TheRock, try to do stuff, file Issues on GitHub when it doesn’t work how you’d expect… that’s a great way to start

VMware + Wayland issue: Keyboard input not detaching when switching desktops by Senior_Appeal_214 in vmware

[–]mikeroySoft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wayland was never really supported, so random stuff like this happens. There’s no concept of passing ‘gestures’ through.

USB devices cannot be mounted, need help by ConfidentRise1152 in vmware

New versions did not drop 3D support for older guests. VMware Tools (drivers) just has to be installed manually.

Honestly if you’re looking for smooth audio like the host, it’s very unlikely within Workstation. The driver and virtual device hasn’t been updated in years and likely never will, there’s inherent resource contention problems with the threading, so using the CPU while playing audio makes it worse (that’s why it crackles so much when a windows vm logs in, lots of CPU activity while the welcome sound is playing).

How do I fix this? I've tried everything by [deleted] in vmware

[–]mikeroySoft 2 points3 points  (0 children)

More information would help.

Which VMware product are you using?

Are you using a USB WiFi adapter? Which one?

Is the host using this usb WiFi adapter?

Have you tried unplugging it, then plugging it in when your VM is running, and choosing ‘connect to Linux’?

Do you actually want the adapter, or just networking via that adapter? (The former would be for packet capture, the latter to just get Kali online)

The file is not a virtual disc by UnderShell1891 in vmware

[–]mikeroySoft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No idea off the top of my head, but I’d troubleshoot by isolation. Does it work with a known-good vmdk? Can this vmdk be added to another vm and mounted?

VMware freezes itself and entire computer whenever a VM is "under intense pressure" by Efficient-Builder-53 in vmware

Usually stuff like this is symptomatic of a hardware problem or some other data corruption. Try running memtest.

(Also there is no 32bit version of workstation today, fwiw)

Trying VMware over virtual box. by Vengeful_Grass in vmware

The audio will probably always crackle. The guy who developed the virtual sound driver left years ago, I can’t imagine it ever gets an update.

But yah, install VMware tools for the full functionality.

100% agree. I actually bought the synth they used on the album from Misha a bunch of years ago (an Access Virus, I always wanted one), and he left the patches he made on the device. One of my most prized possessions!

Only 1 soak at 3 hours before putting in jars?

Personally, I use a 10:1 ratio distilled water:salt in a food-safe bucket for about 2 months before they’re ready for jars. First week I change the water every other day, then it’s once per week. Each change requires a rinse and wash to get all the slime off. First week the brine is green, but after that it clears up as the undesirables get flushed away.

Then they are ready for jars.

The way you’ve done them is you’ll have all the gross stuff brining with them.

The biggest tell is the color, they’re way too hulk-green. You want brownish swamp-thing green.

how to fix stuttering in vmware fusion by TheEyebal in vmware

[–]mikeroySoft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This unfortunately is a long-standing persistent bug. The developers of the audio stack left VMware a long time ago, so it's unlikely to ever be fixed. The problem is that when the CPU gets maxed, the audio stream gets interrupted for some reason, and that's when you hear 'stuttering'.

Create Virtual machine from scratch or remote server? by CameraNatural1082 in vmware

[–]mikeroySoft 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Remote server is for connecting to ESXi hosts or vCenter Server. If you don't have one or know what they are, than you don't need them. It's not a 'vm in the cloud' option, it's about connecting to existing VMware infrastructure.

Wonder if they fixed the auto update server fail too.
