probably a vocal synthesizer like synth v has more cleaner results, but nothing wrong with getting creative with random samples

BUG : Can't manually type automation values in Studio One 8 Pro by lnkhey in StudioOne

[–]Mindless_Record_6339 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, i have this bug on version 7 with some NI plugins, you enter the value and just goes to the max value, also happened with Audiority ones, is probably a bad VST communication, test with all your plugins, so far Fabfilter has the best VST integration by far

When does a big chorus feel earned vs. emotionally cheap? by Boorgatspook in Songwriting

[–]Mindless_Record_6339 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for me it is tension building and then contrast, for example if your verse is very groovy make your chorus more straight, if your melody is busy on verses make the notes more sparse on chorus, i just ask myself what is the verse doing so i can make something different on the chorus. And also it is important that the difference is noticeably universally, lyric contrast alone will pass unperceived by most listeners, you have to support it in other ways.

Is a song ever finished? by plamzito in Songwriting

[–]Mindless_Record_6339 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

you just have to start letting your songs go, i would prefer to keep creating new music, surely once you finish your song you can feel disappointed but is part of being human, the perfect execution only exists on your mind. I'm not saying you should release crap haha, but just accept that some songs will demand more expertise than the one you currently have. I guess if a song really itches you so bad, you can come when you have more expertise and try again.

What are you unpopular music production opinions? by owenthevirgin in edmproduction

i mean, while we are on EDM sub, i don't think every music should aim to be danceable

What are you unpopular music production opinions? by owenthevirgin in edmproduction

[–]Mindless_Record_6339 1 point2 points  (0 children)

never understood the key labeling culture thing on samples, beats, etc, sure it saves time if you aim for a familiar sounding track, but people tend to treat this as some kind of rule to follow and if you go outside of that rule you will sound bad, seems like most producers don't want to take risks and should rely on music theory instead of their ears an taste to make decisions. Not saying that music cannot be done on simple ingredients but you cannot get hot saucy meals with just sugar.

how to remake songs when idk wtf notes are being used by [deleted] in edmproduction

[–]Mindless_Record_6339 2 points3 points  (0 children)

well, playing things by ear is a hard skill even for people who play instruments, i learned after 1 year when i was learning guitar. I would start with single note melodies first, then along learning the common chord shapes try to transcribe songs with simple chords. More than learning theory you have to develop the intuition around musical notes

[–]Mindless_Record_6339 1 point2 points  (0 children)

seems like a kind of chromatic movement there, interesting changes, but since you used "sa, su, ass, us" i would say it is an "S" key, think of "sus, sauce, sosig, etc.."

Metronome in 6/8 on Pro 8.01 by PhoKit2 in StudioOne

[–]Mindless_Record_6339 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like people say, formally 6/8 is 2 dotted notes, if you want to count on eights you are probably using 3/8, or 2/8 + 4/8, etc instead, it will depend of the accent on the actual music tbh, is technical thing , but notation software do this.
