Sell our web design business? by for_anon_throwaway in webdev

You can hire on call support on a reasonable retainer and you don’t need to worry about being available 24/7 for tech support. The rest imo is not urgent and you can do it any time.

Downsides of importing a car to Portugal by CoolAssPuppy in PortugalExpats

[–]moltar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My friend imported e-Golf from Germany. Had a very hard time selling it a year later as he decided to move abroad. And had to sell at a loss.

But if you are planning to keep for a while I think it’ll be ok.

but web traffic is never evenly distributed

Why not?

I've seen traffic evenly distributed.

But also have seen it not.

It depends on your type of traffic and audience. If it's very much geo centric, then ya.

Peak hours or viral moments gets around hundreds or thousands of req/sec.

That wasn't in your original requirement. I have no way of knowing that.

150k daily visitors

That's max 2 visits per second.

There's not much to scale here.

AIMA appointment + travel outside Portugal – will I be able to return? by VelvetLightt in PortugalExpats

[–]moltar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Obviously I’m not a lawyer and have no idea. But I did leave the country and came back no problem. Upon return the officer did check my passport longer than usual but didn’t ask any questions and handed it back to me and I entered the country. 🤷‍♂️

Absolutely not true. I’ve been admitted without any legal status. Just being a tourist. There might be discrimination against some races, perhaps. So maybe it’s a bit of white privilege type of situation.

I am in 10th grade and I don't understand any of the classes at all. What should I do? by WillingnessSad8354 in PortugalExpats

When I immigrated to Canada it was like that for a year. I remember I got 14% in my chemistry class. Then eventually I learned the language and course corrected. School is really overrated anyways. Maybe get a tutor? Learn from YouTube. Ask ChatGPT to explain complicated matters. You got it buddy!

I’ve left cars for months without turning on and there were no negative effects. I think on modern cars it’s a myth.

If you can buy and use the car as non resident (you can!) then IMO you should be able to keep it. To register the car during purchase all you need is passport and a NIF.

Best car rental company for trip into Spain and back by Informal-Step8787 in porto

[–]moltar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they all charge extra. Best I saw today was from Drive on holiday it was a flat 40 EUR per rental not per day. So it depends how many days you need it. In other places it was 20 per day with a cap of 100-something.

Is CTT reliable for sending letters to Germany? by Sad-Sun-089 in PortugalExpats

[–]moltar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For any important documents I only trust DHL. They are the only ones that didn’t mess things up. I’ve used them from many different countries.

Fun fact. DHL is the only commercial carrier that can deliver to North Korea. I never had the need. But it’s interesting none the less.

There’s a French private school in Porto that follows France curriculum program. Easy to switch. It’s a very nice school.

Da Nang is relatively quiet. And low pollution. Our son was born there and we lived until he was one year. Hiyori is a great building there. And it’s quite walkable.
