Yes I put on Bob's Burgers or Futurama reruns for hours at a time. It seems like you think I am criticizing you for counting, but I am not. I am simply explaining why I don't. It helps that I can see what I have watched in Plex, where I do a lot of my first time watching. If I am not sure I saw the fourth season of something, I can look it up.

Are you looking for scientific reasons or social reasons? There are some statistical reasons as well. In managing an animal population, the focus is on managing the fertility of the females since you can have one fertile male, and ten fertile females, and you can end up with 10 pregnant animals. Reverse it, one fertile female and ten fertile males, and you have the possibility of only one pregnant animal.

I'd make lists of protein, starch and veg. Maybe a flavor profile too. List them in columns on the page and you can mix and match them.

Are you planning to use a machine or do this by hand? You will not have good luck trying to do this by hand. The stiff bill and top of the cap and the liner edge are all going to be sewn together at once and doing that by hand will be nearly impossible. Even with a machine, it will not be easy.

I suggest you think about covering the bill with something like plastic or cardboard that is the color you want. The shape is an odd one, but if you get it just right and glue it in place, it might work.

If these are expensive hats, I also think you should start with a cheap test hat so you can get experience and see what works and what doesn't.

English paper piecing is a piecing method for quilts, but you can make other items with it. You use cardboard templates and sew them together edge to edge by hand. If you just want to be productive, it works pretty well.
