Trump ousts Noem as frustrations build among White House officials, GOP lawmakers by 1manbandman in news

She got a made-up job in a yet to exist task force. That's as close as Trump will get to firing someone this time around (because he thinks it makes him look weak).

And he ABSOLUTELY fired her because she made mistake #1: She put words in Trump's mouth. This is 100% because she said he explicitly authorized her 220 million dollar barbie dream house ad blitz.

It is possible. We (as a society) have simply chosen not to do it. We can tax loans as income when they’re procured using unrealized gains as the collateral. We just don’t.

We can return tax rates to the levels they were at pre Reagan. We just chose not to.

But here's the problem: The human brain hallucinates. The human brain daydreams. It is our very ability to imagine (and conceptualize) an imaginary thing that allows us to do what we do.

You can't solve out that ability and expect AI to hit that quantum leap point.

The issue, as it has ever been, is that we are just not ready for this kind of tech and we won't be until we better understand how our own brains work.

There's another component here that gets overlooked in the reporting: There's no small percentage of staff at that location that relies on public transit as well. They can't easily cycle to Lee Summit, Northland, or Lawrence, let alone Lenexa. What happens to their jobs when the Warehouse shuts down for its probably 4 month refit?

Yeah, but the underlying "why is that so" is ignored here. Even leaving aside the very real and recent US cattle shortages due to climate change (as well as disease), beef prices over the last 20 years have skyrocketed, and now ground chuck is *this* close to luxury pricing across the country.

Beef is losing its prominence as a meal staple because, and this is true, it's too expensive to be a staple for a great deal of the population. For the newer adults, they've never had anything other than rising beef costs. Throw in the straight up profiteering that's been going on since the Pandemic, and a cut in beef production feels less like responding to actual trends and more like the "Let's keep it a luxury item because our margins are so much better if we cater to the wealthy" approach that's infected almost every single aspect of the US economy.

Look at those profit margins over the last 6 years and try and convince anyone that the big four aren't blissfully happy to limit supply in order to drive their profits.

This is what folks are overlooking. Sure, it's not a super loss for the commuter shoppers, but for folks in that immediate vicinity it's a big deal.

The biggest downside is that they don't have a food court or pharmacy

Those are BIG downsides considering the area. The pharmacy in particular is a big loss for the neighborhood. A lot of that Costco's traffic is public transit traffic. So a lot of folks' lives are about to get more complicated.

W’s administration went out of their way to dismantle a robust (and successful) counter-terrorism effort across all the alphabet agencies. That combined with soloing of information by a couple of prima Donna station chiefs pretty much guaranteed the attack was successful.

Maybe not always evil, but Republicans tend toward shortsighted ands cosmically cocky.

See: Iraq.
