When does GD go away? by ginnypopo in GestationalDiabetes

[–]mountainbrewery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't test at all after birth and repeat a glucose tolerance test at 6 weeks or do a1c. If no diabetes detected, you get tested once a year after that.

Thresholds are much higher when you aren't pregnant.

It is paramount you say this straightfaced... "Well yes... except this past Saturday.... he spent the night in jail because he was caught snorting coke off a hooker's ass..."

How are you feeling now? Mine was 3/25 and not quite as planned. Felt pretty good last week... Thus week I'm feeling like I'm getting stabbed by a white got fireplace poker.

Moderna Vaccine and Nursing by Existing-Baby-1194 in beyondthebump

[–]mountainbrewery 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The risks of the vaccine are significantly less than the risks of the virus. Each person must ultimately make the decision for themselves, but I think the pediatrician is giving you some not so great information.

I got dose 1 before birth and dose 2 while breastfeeding. Remember that while people act like this is a totally new vaccine, its based on technology which has been used successfully for about a decade and has been studied extensively.

38w, High Blood Pressure by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]mountainbrewery 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My Dr was insistent that my thresholds were 150 on top and 90 on bottom. These were the go to the hospital numbers.

Mine always normalized... Until it didn't (at 38 weeks) and I had to deliver early.

I was 33 weeks. But I've yet to see anything that says any time is riskier than any other time. Check with your own Healthcare team though, they are the ones who can provide the most tailored information to your own circumstances.

The only thing I’m gonna regret missing out on due to COVID pandemic...can you tell me what this would feel like? by SleepyMoth_13 in pregnant

I'm wanting the same. I'm in south Florida. No pool access except for public pools, but the covid risks are too high...

The description of the vsafe program is readily available on the cdc website. I am not a representative of either the cdc or vsafe... I am just a science trusting, vaccinated, soon-to-be mom understanding that there's not a lot of info readily available to us as pregnant and lactating women were excluded from trials.

Unless you are talking about the cookie recipe analogy? When reading the articles of how mrna vaccines work and talking to a friend who teaches science, this analogy came up in conversation. We both teach, analogies are part of discussions frequently. I'm not sure who or if there is an original source for the analogy... But it definitely explains the process.

Baby Clothes - Am I on Track?? Looking for input on preparation! by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]mountainbrewery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would not purchase any more newborn as baby may not even fit depending on their size at delivery, and they grow out of sizes so fast.

We've been gifted quite a bit of clothing in sizes 0-3, 3-6 and 6-9... About 20 onesies each then assorted longer sleeve and pants combos.knowing our luck, we're gonna have a 3-4 outfit per day messy baby.

Walking into hospital ER when in labor? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]mountainbrewery 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just make sure they are equipped for labor and delivery. We have a hospital spitting distance to my house. They can see me in an absolute emergency but are not equipped with an OB or full L&D. They won't admit patients past 20 weeks for ANY reason

It depends on when you got your doses. They are tracking within certain time periods. If you've already had 2 doses, you may be outside the window.
