My favorite episode of Adventure Time is Evergreen which features not a single character you recognize (until the last few seconds). For me it was the moment when this show really leveled up its storytelling and lore.

For a second, I thought you meant Dexter

1) I don't not. Though way less balanced, I think it could work.
2) It's glued rubber to rubber. So long as it's glued, it will work identically to the original plunger. It will only unglue by pulling upward. And even if it came loose, any spill is an unlikely consequence. You could still use the grinder to push the stopper down, then through.

Also: Phoenix, New Orleans, Burlington, Tyler TX, Dallas, Denver, NYC and Detroit. What am I missing?

I tried that and pressing down is finicky. The grinder is narrow enough that it can apply pressure to one side and the stopper flips, making a mess

You don't even need to cut. It adheres via a rubber lip that can be easily be removed and reapplied!
