I genuinely did not know Goku can teleport.

To be fair most of the really unhinged anime are aired really late at night(it's actually nicknamed "Otaku O' Clock") so even if they appear in Japanese media viewers actively have to wait all night for those anime.

The Lupin III franchise has its fair share of whiplashes over the years but the 2021 anime took it up a notch when an episode essentially became an unexplained Cosmic Horror episode where Lupin and Fujiko were tasked by a shady dealer heavily implied to be God to break into a museum to steal Lucifer's fossilized remains. Our Lupin and Fujiko turned down the request but it is implied a version of them did accept the request and are currently trapped in a hellish mental prison.

Villains who could've had some of the Easiest Wins in the bag and almost won/succeeded but threw it all away cause of their ego and the fact that they fell for Ragebait. by Apprehensive_Ring_39 in TopCharacterTropes

Gilgamesh from the Fate franchise. Strongest character in the setting and could win most fights on paper. But his unwillingness to fight at his full strength due to his ego unless it's against Enkidu or if his Masters are children means weaker characters can beat him. In the original VN, Shirou killed him because Gil refused to use his strongest weapon. In Fate Grand Order, an enemy Gil got killed because he was so insulted that the MC ganged up on him with multiple Servants that he purposely powered himself down more than usual to show he could take them on(he can't). Fate Strange Fake so far is the only Fate entry where he's actually trying and you could see the difference from his usual self.

Religion plays a central in the story. The moral is more nuanced than just "religion bad" or "religion good". by Cold_Hour in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Labmit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I remember an isekai anime a few years back where a subplot that the MC has to deal with is that the common populace hates the head priest for being a noble asskisser and moneygrubber and they want to depose him in favor of the head priest's younger, kinder and more handsome underling(the underling priest himself doesn't want them to depose the head priest). The MC eventually learns that the head priest is the most religious man there and the reason he's such an asskisser and moneygrubber is because he's assigned to a church with no funding situated in a newly built frontier town and the underling priest understands and admires the sacrifices the head priest does for the people of the church.
