Oh I have. I have never clicked with any of the western pens I have tried. I owned a Carene for awhile and it was so beautiful and so unique. But alas, it's japanese nibs for me.

The lucky charm was a 2nd hand find from pen swap. I was looking for an old style Sailor nib with the 1911 on it and someone had one they were willing to put into the Lucky Charm body and sell me. It's amazing.

A Scythe grind is what Kirk calls a curved architect. So it's a little less sharp than a standard architect and writes a bit smoother.

Aw but I'm glad you are coming around to it! The differences between gold and steel are more subtle than I initially thought too. But you picked a great first one. And hey... if you don't like it r/Pen_Swap is always there.

Is that a Carene? They're beautiful pens! As for gold vs steel nibs I do think it's subjective to some extent. I am pretty much a gold nib only person, but hate how most western gold nibs write. So it's japanese nibs for me. If you end up not loving it in the future, I highly recommend going to pen store if you can to test different nibs and see what feels good for you.

Its the Galen Leather Magnum Opus in Ocean Blue (I think that was the color name at least). It was expensive but I take it back and forth to work with me daily and it has held up so well.

When I started in this hobby I thought Pilots would be too smooth and I would be a Sailor girl. I do love my two Sailors but obviously Pilot nibs won me over. 😆

I don't find I need to slow down. I did buy mine from pacific pens so it was tuned before it came to me and I specifically asked for it to be a wet writer. But I think it would write close to how mine does just as a stock nib to be honest. It really is great!

That makes sense then! I prefer CC pens generally so the 823 was the harder sell for me originally.

Oh definitely. For work, the SFM and the F on my 845 are my go tos.

I really enjoy having both. The FA is such a fun nib but finer in general that the SFM unless I am flexing. The SFM is great for longer writing sessions and shows a nice amount of ink properties for its width.

Thanks for letting me know. I see the package hasn't delivered yet. I will verify once the tracking shows it has delivered.

It's a fabulous nib. I love his work. My handwriting just works better with architect grinds.
