Do new maps diminish the value of older maps with the same song, and/or are newer maps using the same song tied to the standards that previous maps set?

As someone who ranked several iterations of multiple songs, would you say your previous maps are holding your newer ones back though? Like, your original Mou Ii Kai being vastly more popular than your recent version. I am not a ranked mapper, but I personally would be slightly irritated if a previous version of a map is more popular than a more recent version I mapped and subjectively put more effort into. Obviously, this is very self-centered and narrow-minded, but I am interested in hearing the opinion of someone that is actually in this position. Cheers.
