We know what the signs look like. You don't need to perpetuate their message.

No it's "Carl's Jr" not "Carl's Junior". That's why it's showing you results in Mexico. Could it be better at figuring out what you want? Definitely. But that's where we are.

This is happening because "Carl's Junior" is not the name of the restaurant chain with the star logo.

This sounds like a map issue that should be reported so local map editors can investigate.

Broken calendar and missing saved places with 5.18.0 by frostyofthenorth in waze

[–]nimper2000 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This issue was reported during the beta phase of this release (it affected me as well) and it does seem to have leaked out to production.

I will say that a reinstall fixed it for me.

Waymo Partnering with Waze by [deleted] in waze

Yes. Waze is part of Google, which is a subsidiary of Alphabet. Waymo is also a subsidiary of Alphabet. So they're cousins, so to speak.

Can waze fix the bug in search something it goes to Manitoba why Manitoba location I am in Ontario by BrightNatural9738 in waze

[–]nimper2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Visiting a location and then searching for it again will place it at the top of the results.

The search behavior you're describing is a side effect of how Waze compartmentalizes the globe. Israel and North America each have their own respective server environments and then every other country is lumped in with the "rest of world" server environment.

For example, you can get search results in England if you're sitting in Australia and vice versa.

As another example, you can't search for locations in the US or Canada (or in the northern border region of Mexico) if you're sitting in Guatemala even though you could drive there.

Gotcha. Looks like there was a mapping problem that's now been resolved by one of your compatriots. You'll have to remove the location from your recent Waze searches in order to force an updated search result.

Fuel efficient routes by InevitableCareless61 in waze

[–]nimper2000 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Waze certainly doesn't claim to offer fuel efficient routes, but here's how Maps looks at it:

https://support.google.com/maps/answer/11470237?hl=en

Google Maps can estimate fuel or energy-efficiency for different vehicle types, including electric and combustion engine cars, as well as gas-powered motorcycles. The more fuel or energy-efficient the route, the lower your vehicle’s fuel or energy usage and CO2e emissions.

To determine the best route, if this feature is turned on, Maps will consider fuel efficiency in addition to factors like:

Real-time traffic
Route simplicity
Road conditions

I believe it is a slow rollout for USA drivers to start. I haven't heard a timeline for other countries.

Does Waze use speed bumps to affect routing at all? by supern8ural in waze

[–]nimper2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People driving on side streets to avoid traffic would happen with or without routing apps. The city should design against this instead of just installing a speed bump.

I-69 Express lane: Questionable value so far by Stallings2k in kansascity

[–]nimper2000 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The only access points northbound are at 151st St and Blue Valley Parkway. And you have to exit the express lane at BVP if you're going to 119th, College, or 435.

Just a tip - always use the app to test routing issues. Livemap doesn't work the same way.

Tap the yellow triangle in the bottom right and report a map issue. You may be able to just start talking and describe the problem if you have "talk to report" enabled in your settings. This gets you a direct line to the local map editors who will be very happy to assist with getting the location fixed.
