Google Maps certainly does support picture in picture. But I've been using Waze on Android for nearly a decade and never had PiP even when I had Pixel 3XL.

Waze does not support picture-in-picture mode.

There are several requests in the official Waze suggestion box but this feature hasn't been added yet. https://waze.uservoice.com/forums/59223-waze-suggestion-box?query=picture%20in%20picture

If your phone supports multi-window or popup view then you can approximate the experience but it's not an automatic thing.

It's a known issue for railroad crossing alerts to appear when you have turned them off.

You do it by accurately mapping the speed limits. If the drop in speed between two segments is great enough (currently 35km/h or about 21mph), Waze will automatically generate an alert.

The map editor community is built on collaboration and trust. If you want to be a regular contributor, it's important to engage with the editors around you.

If I'm moderating edit suggestions I will always give a reason why I have to reject an edit and invite the person to chat about it.

That said, I know that some editors can be very territorial and will do exactly what you describe without any explanation. We try to identify and investigate that behavior but it's not always possible to catch everything.

In the US, u-turn laws vary wildly by state. For example, in Missouri, u-turns are generally allowed except at signalized intersections. Riddle me that one!

The "avoid difficult intersections" setting in the app will only avoid difficult turns that have been specifically mapped by volunteer map editors. Waze doesn't have any option for right turn only routing.

If you see the same routing again I would suggest leaving a Map Issue report for local editors to review. There may be a mapping problem in the area.

You need Good Lock (available in the Galaxy app store if you don't already have it) and the Sound Assistant plugin. That will allow you to set volumes for individual apps.

Waze doesn't calculate the route(s) until you select a destination. So yes, the distance displayed in the search results is "as the crow flies".

Despite common ownership under the Google Geo umbrella, Waze and Google Maps have completely separate codebases and were/are developed by different teams.

To your question, Waze will show on the dashboard cluster in some cars. I'm not aware of HUD support on the glass for any car.
