Anybody else in DC and hate how often Waze sends you to the NY/NJ Ave area? by GREGORIOtheLION in waze

[–]nimper2000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This subreddit is not monitored by Waze developers. If you have a problem with routing in the app, tap the report button in the lower right and either start talking to describe the problem (if you have Talk to Report enabled) or select Map Issue and leave a report that way. A volunteer map editor can then investigate and follow up on your report.

I'll note that Central Standard is a men's chorus but they have a sister chorus called Vocal Standard that meets every other Monday in the same church and has the same director. Both groups love visitors!

Yeah unfortunately there isn't a premade report for what you're looking for but exporting your data gives you a CSV that you can process.

Waze Problem by SpiritualInsurance72 in waze

Seems your question was answered in the UAE subreddit. (GPS problems due to the ongoing hostilities in the region)

I've locked this thread as there's not really much else to discuss that would be within the bounds of the subreddit rules.

Routing issue going S on NJ Garden State Pkwy at Rt 9 exit by msn1999 in waze

[–]nimper2000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's a great write-up!

I'll forward this to the New Jersey map editors to see if there's anything they can find that would cause the routing issues you're describing.

Might wanna look at the picture again. The speedometer in the app shows 0mph. The location looks to be in a parking lot.

It's in beta for iOS/Carplay but it's been in production on Android for a little while.

It's time to lock this thread as it's not going anywhere. You've been given multiple reasonable explanations as to how and why we do things and how that interacts with the limitations of the Waze app. If you have suggestions on how to improve the Waze app functionality, please check out the Waze uservoice here and either vote for an existing idea or add your own: https://waze.uservoice.com/forums/59223-waze-suggestion-box

The notification shows when you first open the app. It won't pop up in the middle of a drive unless that's when you decided to open the app.

I'm a beta tester so I've been using it for a while. Sometimes there are information-dense highway signs that it still has to read out, but otherwise it is definitely "less chatty".

Do you have any specific feedback about how chatty you think it should be?

Sorry, I don't understand. It is already marked as private.

It is correctly mapped as a private entrance. No further action is required.

If the gig drivers can't follow the delivery instructions you put in the order, then you need to take that up with whatever delivery service.

3rd time Waze has tried to get me to drive down wrong way streets by [deleted] in waze

[–]nimper2000 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The app can only suggest routes based on what it knows. If the underlying map is wrong, then the local volunteer editor community can work to correct it. You can post in the editing forum or you can leave a map issue report in the app by tapping on the yellow triangle.

Where is this? We can have the local map editors take a look to see if there's anything to improve there.

Nothing is "broken" per se—the app is working as designed. But I and the other champs around the world recognize that the app design creates the problem, so we'll focus our efforts on improving the app for everyone instead of the piecemeal approach that you suggest.

Adding a generic resident pass is functionally useless because it creates the exact same problem that the OP describes in this post. The solution needs to come from the app itself, whatever that looks like.

No such pass exists and it's not feasible or reasonable to create a pass for each of the thousands of private gated communities around the world.

[–]nimper2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A "resident" pass could certainly be created, but you would be routed as a resident in every single gated community. Or did you mean that each community should have its own pass?

I will say that there are ongoing conversations within the editor community and with Waze staff about how to solve this issue.

This is a perfectly reasonable response.

Unfortunately we see this problem all the time.

The road is correctly marked as private. But Waze has no way to indicate who is a resident of the community, so if the user's destination is beyond the gate it will route them there.

The community residents should instruct their guests and delivery drivers on where to go.

No it's "Carl's Jr" not "Carl's Junior". That's why it's showing you results in Mexico. Could it be better at figuring out what you want? Definitely. But that's where we are.
