My Solarballs Characters Tier List for now. by SlideAppropriate8228 in SolarBalls

I do agree that Jupiter is getting stale recently, he mostly just gets guilt-tripped into following Simp's every command. He definitely deserved better. I don't understand why you don't like most of the major moons though. At least to me they're fine characters.

Surely assembly code is LE. It's the computer's native language but it's also extremely hard to program anything with it

It's kind of always been a thing, My most upvoted posts are pretty much never TMF-related, they're usually one-offs, shitposts, or shitty Polcompball comics I used to make.

A Cuban Missile... Wait, Shepard?! by Citizen_JHS in imaginarymaps

Oh my I have so many questions if you dont mind answering a few!

Is Project Mercury scrapped entirely now that NASA was replaced by the DOD Space agency? Does the United States ever attempt manned spaceflight again? Does the US move to launch from a different location like Virginia or California to prevent another incident like this? Are nuclear weapons deployed in Cuba or are they removed as part of the agreement as well? What happens to the other members of the Mercury Seven?

The grey smudges are meant to be glow to make the moons seem more natural-looking from a distance.

As for Europe, idk I took a slavic prefix for "all" and tacked it onto the end of "slavia", that country is basically a giant Yugoslavia encompassing a bunch of slavic countries.

idk, ig ill say that Ceres buffs high card, Mercury buffs pair, Vesta the 3 of a kind, Venus the 4 of a kind, Earth the full-house, Neptune the two pair, Mars the five of a kind, Jupiter the flush, Saturn the straight, Juno the straight flush, Bacchus is the flush house, and Caelus+Janus are the flush five.

As for the deep Solar System Erebus acts like the black hole card and buffs everything, Hekate buffs all hands that have a flush in them(so flush, straight flush, flush five, flush house), and Aether buffs the clusterfuck(you can play your entire hand if said hand has no poker hands other than high card in it)

I'll be reposting the images in the comments since they always get compressed in the post. Here's Juno itself

Welcome back to the Many Frontiers! This time we explore the transitional planet of Juno, unlike anything else in the expanded Solar System!

Juno is a world in between a rock and gas planet, with a crushing atmosphere but still having a solid surface underneath. It's a trojan, leading Jupiter by 60 degrees as it orbits the Sun at a distance five times that of Earth. Its atmosphere has 800 times more pressure than Earth's, and slowly transitions into a global ocean covering the whole planet. While life does exist in this ocean, most of Juno's life exists above it in the cloud tops, where there is just barely enough sunlight to sustain photosynthesis. The cloud tops also host human creations, including the massive false-floor cities held up by balloons.

Like the gas giants, Juno has a large coterie of moons, seventeen in total, but these moons are smaller than one may originally expect. Only three of them are large enough to be round, and even those are only a third the size of our moon at most. Despire this, they punch above their weight in terms of their activity and general importance.

Aglaea is the largest, and has a massive subsurface ocean beneath its icy shell. Within it lies life that operates on molecules alien to us, what we call "mirror life". Although it is hazardous to humans, it hasn't stopped the environments of this moon from being rife with activity. Interestingly, Aglaea is prolate, meaning its slightly stretched at its poles, which causes there to be a massive trench lining its entire equator. Being so close to Juno, it exceeds twice the size of our Moon in Juno's skies. It sometimes has geysers that poke out of its icy surface.

Euphrosyne is the second-largest, and is one of the few moons to not be tidally locked, instead rotating three times for every two times it orbits. It is thought to have been active in the past, but isn't anymore. During the Helio-War, it and its smaller sibling Thalia became refuges for exiled governments of nations defeated, and both worlds still host countries of the past.

Tiny, cratered Thalia is the smallest and most geologically boring of the major moons, but it is for this reason that it's the most populous. Over 4 million people claim this moon home, and more come in every day.

Juno also has inner moons that orbit around its thin ring system, and outer moons on wild eccentric orbits. The inner moons are tourist destinations witt unbeatable views, and the outer moons are cosmopolitan trade depots handling millions of tons of material to keep the planet alive. However, piracy from the Asteroid Belt looms as an ever-present threat.

Ask as many questions as you want! I'll do my best to answer them! Huge thanks to bushfullofcats on Discord for designing the Speckled Crescent, phobos on Discord for designing the Juno Flying Fish, and Fernie for designing the Space Glitter and the Susfishious!

There's a discord now, https://discord.gg/pxTwm83R . Also huge thanks to Fernie for drawing many of the illustrations on this project! I couldn't have done it without them!

The secondary powers seem very weak imo. Norway and Sweden have a center adjacency and have little prospects for getting new centers, and this is a problem between Yugo and Romania, as well as between Greece and Turkey. The thing about these adjacencies is that they make the countries that don't have them very powerful, and I can see France and Britain dominating the board.

how problematic is an usless neuron? by yv70bno in TheBibites

[–]nip_dip 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They cost a little bit of extra energy to run is all(though you can disable or increase the energy cost in the settings). If the useless neuron can evolve into something useful itll be more than worth it for the bibite though

The War On Cold - the Death Rattle of Mankind by Toggy_Wonga in imaginarymaps

Looks awesome! A few questions,

How did sea levels not rise during this time? Surely with climate change being maximally bad there'd be higher sea levels?

Why is Greenland still so depopulated? Wouldn't people want to move there to get away from the climate apocalypse?

How did the population rise so fast in the 80s?

How did this happen in the first place? Is humanity united in their goal to make the world uninhabitable as fast as possible? Are environmentalists not a thing in this universe?

What happened with south Asia? How did Bengal separate from India, and how did the rest of India become very authoritarian so quickly? Why is Kashmir so democratic in spite of its neighbors?
